maaaaan you're one boring/lame individual.

Favourite oz band that's not metal, well, it's probably Dead Can Dance because of a few really epic songs; Host of Seraphim, Severance, Wind that Shakes the Barley, Cantara etc etc., but AC/DC come close. THey've got a brilliant formula and they just have it down pat; everyone knows their biggest songs but you'd be surprised just how consistent and great their entire catalogue is. Love 'em. Midnight Oil are good as well but not on the same league as those two. Shoeb Ahmad does some really brilliant Tim Hecker-ish ambient as well, huge fan of him.

Coming from Nepal!

Night: This is a group of about a dozen who play experimental/atmospheric/folk music. Interesting thing is that most of the members are metalheads and they are/were involved in other metal bands. Check out:

Night - "Rain of Colours":
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZ35nMn8wQc

Night - "Basai Bagayo":
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FvSjbZvSew

Full Circle: They're a slow rock band and there's something different feel in their songs that attracts me everytime.

Full Circle - "Peace of Mind":
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hgc0z5lNrpM

I also dig a lot of jazz bands from here like Cadenza and JCS Trio.

So that were few of the non-metal bands.

Ortel - Hard Rock
I like music as well as the lyrics. The lyrics deal with such topics as life, human nature, injustice, destiny, patriotism, etc.

Let's see, one of my favorite's from the US? Oneohtrix Point Never, Mountains, Jackie-O Motherfucker, and the Wu-tang are up there. So is Christian Death and Today is the Day. There's too much.

Cool to see them getting mentioned. A friend of mine might actually join them since the guitarist is getting tired of playing guitar and singing at the same time or something.

Good stuff. If you're into bluegrass and such, check out The .357 String Band, which I can't recommend enough. I think you may dig them: http://www.myspace.com/357stringband

If you get the chance, check them out live. Absolutely fantastic.

You know, I'm really glad to see this band getting some love here. I've been trying to get my friends into them for the longest time and was beggining to think I was the only one who liked them.

Probably Seigmen. They were a really great Norwegian rock band. They were very unique, I actually haven't heard any other bands that sound like them. They've been covered by some metal bands too, at least Shining (Sweden) and Tristania, that I know of.

It ain't that bad. Most of his output since he got off horse about ten years ago has been great.

I rate the Abattoir Blues..., Dig Lazarus Dig, and both Grinderman efforts very highly.

I actually love the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, especially their earlier stuf. Also a huge fon of Queens of the Stone age, and the Reverend Horton Heat. These bands have released some of my alltime favorite albums, what can I say!

I agree. As a matter of fact I can't think of anything he has done that I don't like (well, maybe a couple of tracks from Nocturama), but he is never going to release an album as intense as Junkyard again.

No More Shall We Part was great too. Not to mention he's superb live. Especially with Ellis involved. Ellis is a god.

I'm from Ukraine and my favourite non-metal band is Kolo. Their music may be described as Slavonic ambient with occasional techno touches. I also really appreciate Russian electroninc music, especially Karna and Velehentor among others.

Yeah he has put out some very good stuff recently. The first Grinderman seemed a bit hit and miss though. I don't think anything he will do will beat his 90s era albums. Especially The Good Son.

My favorite band in my country that isn't metal is probably God Speed You! Black Emperor. Songs like Sleep, East Hastings, Dead Flag Blues, fucking gold. I also really like propagandhi, though only How to Clean Everything and Today's Empires, Tomorrows ashes are albums I'd call absolutely amazing.

I suppose the only non-metal band I know of in Singapore is I am David Sparkle. Retarded name, but the music is pretty decent. They play post-rock with electronic touches.

http://www.myspace.com/iamdavidsparkle

EDIT: There's also Erfara, another post-rock band which is more "straightforward". I enjoy them a bit more. http://www.myspace.com/erfara

I am an outspoken country fan. I listen to it as much as I do metal. It's hard to choose a favorite non-metal band from the US, especially when my favorite genre originated here. I would have to say the early country greats like Patsy Cline, Ernest Tubb, etc. There are far too many to name.

Adil Omar. Hardcore rapper with a heavy old school influence. Done tracks with B-Real from Cypress Hill, DJ Solo from Soul Assassins etc. Currently recording an album that has Kool G Rap, Xzibit, among others as guests.

Kingston Wall was a psychedelic rock band from Finland. They did three albums, but then the guitarist/singer killed himself. They were probably the best band ever. All the players were also very skilled in playing their instruments. If you like Jimi Hendrix or any kind of good music in general, I suggest you to check them out.

Here are a few epic songs by them!!!!!

At the moment, it's definitely Minor Modesty. Stoner-ish hard rock, great stuff.

I've been really getting into Johnny Cash (musically...) in the past year, and alot of his albums he released before he died were awesome, so he's definitely on the list. I'd also have to say Lynyrd Skynyrd, Muddy Waters, and most of Sublime's music.

Motorpsycho: Amazing band playing everything from country (The Tussler album) to stoner metal/sabbath worship (first album), also play amazing jams live. Serioulsly a band that everyone who loves music should listen to. For starters, listen to Demon Box or Timothy's Monster.

Jokke & Valentinerne: Another great norwegian act, playing a mix of punk and more folky/country music. Unfortunately not so well fitted for an international audience because of the norwegian lyrics. The lyrics are half the music, honest songs about alchohlism, drug addiction, love and many other themes. Jokke passed away some years ago after taking a drug overdose while trying to quit...

From the States here, and I'm going to have to go with The Doors.

My favorite genre other than metal is classical, unfortunatly we don't have many composers from the US.
