Passionplay here - English, 56, love listening to most genres of music but lean mostly towards metal and classic rock. Current passions are Serenity, Sonata Arctica and Stratovarius none of whom I had heard of 6 months ago. There's always more to discover :D

Hey guys, I'm DrakoSpeed, a metalhead from France (Paris). My favorite metal styles are Folk Metal, (old-school) Thrash Metal and the NWOBHM. But I also listen to many other non-metal styles, mainly punk (and Oi!, RAC, etc.), reggae, traditional music from all over the world and country. I've been listening to metal since I was a teenager (the first metal CD I ever bought was Slayer's "Reign In Blood") and now my tastes have become more diverse, even though I'm still staying "true to my metal roots" if you want :).

I also try to play guitar, but I'm lazy so I basically can't play shit :p. I wanna become a sound engineer/music producer when I finish my studies. I don't read a lot of books at the moment, but when I do it's mostly history books and Lovecraft-related stuff.

I've been registered on the MA for a few months I think but I've never been to the forum before. I wanted to post something, so I though I might as well introduce myself.

I'm gonna focus on reviews on that website, so I hope you'll enjoy them !

Although I have made thousands upon thousands of corrections in the actual archives, I'm still considered a "mallcore kid" on the forums, so I may as well say hello.

My real name is Jussi, I'm from Finland, and I mostly like death/black metal, I've lived alone since 2006, I don't have pets, I started balding at around 20, I follow the NBA and play basketball myself whenever I can, I don't smoke, drink nor do drugs, and I have a twisted sense of humor, which I've found not many people get.

Interestingly enough I used to say all the same things at my job interviews. Maybe that's why I ended working from home.

Welcome insAnum, I was familiar with you from the queue, but nice to see you on the forums at last too! You and I may be the only NBA fans here, hehe.

I still have thousands of NBA cards from 1992 - 1997. I should probably sell them

Hi.

My name is Mauro, I'm brazilian. Been listening to metal for some years now, I registered to metal archives in 2013 but i'll start posting (and maybe contributing) from now on. This website is my holy bible! :D
My musical taste:

Traditional Metal
NWOBHM, preferabble without keyboards....
German Speed Metal
First Wave Black Metal
Punk-influenced metal music, Crossover, Crust, D-Beat and so on

I also enjoy Old school electronic music like Kraftwerk, Jean Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Front 242..
This medieval stuff they're calling "Dungeon Synth": Burzum ambient stuff, Wongraven, Lord Lovidicus...
Synthpop... 'Black Celebration' will be always in my favourite list!

I strongly hate Deathcore/Post Hardcore/Emo and whatever is called this new wave of angry teens with their hair straightener.

Also english isn't my native language, so fuck my grammar errors! :D

What's up guys? Happy to finally be here after years of lurking. I play guitar and just bought a Westone Thunder off ebay. I can't wait to wield that baby and treat her right...Random list of bands I love: assuck, godflesh, jesu, weakling, atlas moth

I just joined the radio station at my college; I can't wait to play Misery Index is its entirety.

Also if you're a musician from Chicago let's talk.

Hey there....been listening to metal for 20+ years...I'm into many types of metal, but most strongly into folk/pagan/viking metal whatever you want to call it. Also into some black, death and thrash of various sorts. Can not stand deathcore/metalcore, etc. Also a big fan of craft beer and whisky, and I am a homebrewer. I'll probably do much more lurking than posting. Cheers!

Hey comrades i'm CommunistBrony, i am new to metal music but i was listening to some Nu Metal song like Bodies by Drowning Pool and Power metal song like Through The Fire and Flames. And i am planning to shift from Rap/Hip Hop to Metal you know because of these white kids listening to Hip Hop/Rap and then they say the N word which i call it racist because it is.

If you wanna know why i didn't bought Metal music CD's because in my local stores i found Manele music, Romanian Folk music, and music for adults with no Metal music at all. So i decided to download albums and songs on my MP3 player and USB because most of them i found garbage (i'm not referring to Metal music).

I am looking forward to become a communist, you know my political spectrum says that i am a center left, and i want to form a Pro-Communist Thrash/Death Metal band called Red Comrades, so that's all i gotta says comrades.

Hm... you talking socialist or communist? Center left is socialist, no commie. After the commie experience in Romania (and most of the maggots that sucked the country dry were commies), I really doubt that the country would need another dose. Though with the actual government, it's not that far from commie heaven, so they might even take great interest in the music that you are planning to compose and play...

You make my mind wish i were more of a Far left than a Center left, but one thing is how much a Bass guitar and a Electric guitar including the drums would cost me in my country?

I never thought I'd be back on this forum again, but I thought it was time to come back to a good community that ISN'T all about gaming or martial arts. :P I'm CapricornSupernaut, also known as Scott, and I like metal. Left for a long while due to depression, but now I'm back and more than happy to be back.

EDIT: And I've forgotten all etiquette that is standard on here, some tips and pointers on how to conduct myself would be nice :D

Just lurk and go with the flow! You're already fine by posting in this post haha. Maybe if you're asking for recommendations, it would be idea for you to use the help threads instead of creating new ones. That's about it, really.

Hello from Austria,

after years of reading in the forum and using Metal-Archives I've decided to register myself here. I'm listening to Metal since about 14 years (all kinds, but mostly Black Metal and related sub-genres) and I am also doing reviews/interviews et cetera for an online-fanzine. Apart from Metal I am into Neofolk, Electronic Music and, depending on my mood, also Hip Hop/Rap.

Favourite bands include: AGALLOCH, ABORYM, SOL INVICTUS, SOLSTAFIR, ZEMIAL, XASTHUR, WINTERFYLLETH, THORNS, TAAKE, SUMMONING, PAYSAGE D'HIVER, SOMBRES FORÊTS, FORTERESSE, PRIMORDIAL, OCTOBER FALLS, NIGHTBRINGER, KRIEG, MGLA, FURIA, KAMPFAR, GLORIOR BELLI, ENTHRONED.

Looking forward to reading and posting!

Good morning, everyone. I'm a 20 year old metal head from the US. Been lurking here for a few months and finally decided to register. I've been listening to metal music most my life (Thanks, dad) but its only recently that I decided to collect CD's and create my own musical identity. Currently I'm heavily into Thrash Metal but also have a ear for other styles. Current favorites include:

Death Angel
Warbringer
Foo Fighters
Black Flag
Gojira
Bleeding Through
Death
Black Sabbath
Slayer

I know these are mostly mainstream but we all start somewhere. Even at that, I do have a weak ear for radio metal/rock. Example: Volbeat, The Pretty Reckless, Ozzy Osbourne.

I'm looking forward to being more active on here and meeting some cool people.

Hey, I'm Jake
I like to collect vinyl from several different genres and am hoping I can fill a few collection gaps here. I'm into all kinda of metal and punk. I play in pop punk and a black metal band. Hopefully we can do some business

Hey guys. I'm DivineSpirit33, and I'm a Christian metaler. I'm not one of those people who needs to have music in the physical form, and I buy most of my stuff digitally, as it's just faster and easier (I love you Amazon :P).

I listen mostly to Black Metal, Death Metal, and Metalcore, but I do like some other subgenres. I'd say the only two that I don't like are Thrash Metal and Grindcore (the only exception being Kalmah, they're a fantastic thrash band).

As for favorite bands, it's definitely Grave Declaration, Blood Stain Child, Crimson Moonlight, Antestor, Armath Sargon, Sanctifica, Kekal, and a bunch more that I'm just too lazy to list.

So yeah, hi. I'm here now.

I've made a few posts around but now that I see this thread I might as well benefit from a proper introduction. My name is Nicholas, I'm 19 years old and I'm an avid guitar player (as you'll see I have a link to my youtube channel in my signature that I do guitar covers for). I'm a massive death metal fan but I also enjoy a lot of black metal music, particularly the Swedish and French varieties. I've been browsing the site and the forums for some time now, but I decided to join after finding out one of my good friends was a rather prominent reviewer here. I look forward to any future discourse I will partake in the community.

Hey guys, I'm 25, from the usa, and I've been lurkin around the site for a few years now to find new bands, but just finally registered. I recently moved from New York (upstate around Buffalo, fuck NYC) to California, and have yet to find any other metal heads to hang with, so here I am. Lately I've been listening to the new stuff from Aborted, Misery Index, Agalloch, Doomed, Hoth, and Wolves in the Throne Room, and I still can't get enough of Colored Sands.

Figured I'd post here first, before moving on to see if there's somewhere in the forums where I can try to find someone to hit some concerts with. I didn't mind skipping bands like Amon Amarth, Tool, and The Ocean because I couldn't find anyone to go with, but I'll be damned before I miss Meshugga in San Francisco this weekend.

Thanks, I think I am going to give it a go alone. Usually I prefer to travel in a pack. I'd welcome walking into a glacier too- we're going through a bit of a drought here in California, and I'm not really a fan of the heat.

I went to a lot of shows alone, it's not like you speak to your friends during the gigs anyway. I had very good experiences and met some likeminded persons, don't be scared because you only live once!

Hey all, my name is Mark. I'm 32, married and work as a union electrician. I live in Los Angeles, California. I've been visiting Metal Archives for several years, but I don't post very much. I've used it a lot to discover different bands to listen to. Metal would have to be my favorite genre of music although I also like classic rock. I listen mostly to death metal. Other sub-genres of metal I enjoy are thrash, heavy, progressive and power.

Keep it brutal!

I too have started going to more shows alone. Most of my friends don't enjoy metal. It's still a fun experience and it's not like you can talk to your friends when the music is playing.

You three that watch basketball: I followed the Pacers for a while, when Ron Artest was there. Whatever became of him?

Ron Artest is still very much around, having reformed and his previous wiles and wickedness and ill-gotten reputation from the Pistons brawl in favor of a more humanitarian/altruistic approach, but not long enough before he elbowed an opponent in the head during a celebration which granted him yet another suspension and more publicity/controversy. He tried to get his act together (e.g. changing his name to metta "world peace") and has since been quite under the radar, almost rather uncharacteristically. There's no question he's declining with age, but undoubtedly remains one of the most outspoken/erratic players the NBA has ever seen. He also has really, really mad defense. To quasi-assert, Artest is still around, albeit not as he was previously. Consequently, he hasn't been nearly as transparent as usual. Just my two cents on the man. Regardless, not too bad of a ball player.
