You guys have some great stuff on here. I especially love the moody landscape stuff. I mostly take photos for ID purposes but every now and then one turns out pretty well.

I dig the Virginia City pictures. That place looks awesome; it reminds me of the abandoned cement plant northwest of Ontario (Oregon) about an hour away from where I live (I think I got a picture of it up there somewhere.) I will be driving through there in a bout a month and a half; maybe I'll have to stop and check it out.

I've GOT to visit Norway some day though. That country has the most beautiful scenery of any place I've seen.

These were all taken yesterday while I was out boat fishing around (and on) a national park area called Broughton Island at Port Stephens, which is about 40 minutes north from where I live. This is fishing mecca, and a truly beautiful piece of Australia. Hope you all enjoy these.

Shots from the boat of the island's shoreline:

Thanks! I found a little bond and there were hundreds of those frogs there. I believe it is their spawning period now.

Great pictures from you as well. Be proud of your country!

Places like that are always cool. There's an abandoned mental institution towards Elko, Nevada that I'd really like to check out someday soon. The next off roading trip I take I'll post pics of an abandoned air strip, mines, and a few cabins that have been around since the 1800s. Lots of goodies like that out in the desert. Nothing deteriorates.

Whoa! This is the first time I enter this thread (damn, I should had come earlier!) and my jaw is touching the floor. Many mesmerizing shots guys! I have taken many great photos myself over the years, but unfortunately they were all before I got my new digital camera which means that I only have the negatives and the printed photos in the albums. I can't be bothered to scan them. I might take some photos of the salt-lake which is half a km from my current place of residence and the woods surrounding it as well as the various organisms that lurk there if anyone is interested (?).

Thanks forestcorpse :)

I'm on a two-week visit now at some relatives, but as soon as I get back I'll put my new toy in work! I'll have to get used to using that digital camera, I've been using my Nikon for years and years!

EDIT: I just recalled that I actually have some photos from that salt-lake. I called my friend and he sent them to me. They are not of excellent quality because they are taken with my friend's cellphone camera, but they're an indication of what's to come!

Image

This is taken from the path that goes around the lake. The path itself is beautiful as well, I'll be sure to take some photos of it too.

Image

A random frog. There's millions of them during the rainy months.

Image

Another cute little frog. Ignore the stupid frames, my friend's trying to learn how to use editing programs. :-P

Some crappy disposable camera pics I took on a trip to Nova Scotia about 7 years ago... Epic? IDK. I though Nova Scotia was a pretty nice-looking place either way:

Image

Image

I know one of those has houses and stuff in the distance (not to mention, a giant fucking plane wing in the last one), but no actual people I can discern... Not sure if they count for "nature" within such close proximity, but that's what I've got.

I have more pictures from that trip, I just don't know where they are right now.

I'll post other pics if I dig some more up too...

The stones are called ''Bautasteiner'' and dates back before the viking age. They are thought to be placed there in some sort of system related to religious ceremonies back then.
There is 7 of them in total at this place, witch is actually very rare.

This place in general was a very active place in the old times, the mountain top the first photos are from was used to burn Beacons.
Like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnPS_tVb ... ure=fvwrel
They would then do this from mountain top to mountain top to signal of danger coming in the fjord.

This is about 20min away from me with car.

Went to the Mayan Rivera in Mexico last month. Got some beautiful shots of Ek Balam. Unfortunately a monsoon arrived when we were climbing up the steep steps and I couldn't take that many photos or my camera would have some serious water damage.

And these were too cool to pass up even though there are people in them. This is us in cenotes. Unfortunately we weren't allowed to bring our own cameras in so these are the only ones we got.

At many places they won't allow you to take in cameras, either because the flash can damage the sights or because they don't want photos to reach an outside audience and they want to sell only their own. Happens to many of the museums in Europe.

Amazing thread! I have only viewed a few pages but will look over this thread many times i'm sure!
Last year we had a major flood in our river/lake system, and the impact was devastating. Most people lost their cabins, but luckily on a personal note we sandbagged our cabin into a fortress and saved it.
One good thing was the opportunity for pictures :D
