Well, me and a coworker was sent on a long drive today at work, 3 hours each way.
We drove there, looked at some stuff and when we were done we just drove around taking photos.

wow! Love the Norwegien summers... What latitude (degrees north) were you at where those photos are? Is that above the Arctic circle? It being July, most of the snow is melted off of all but the highest peaks in the non-Alaskan U.S. I imagine it must have been a chore to keep that road open, with those snow banks that high.

And the goblin forest is beautiful. I love those gnarly moss covered twisted trees. Looks like you guys had snow too.

Actually, it's here in the south/western part of Norway.
Hight in the area is around 1000m above sea level.

Before they opened the road it was over 10m high walls of snow around the road. This road is closed in winter.
They opened the road a few weeks ago.

Hails to the goblin forest, looks awesome!

nice pics! amazing how much of europe looks like nz, from norway to scotland. I suppose it was europeans shaped this land anyway... maybe didn't rape it quite as much

No stones like the Ring of Brodgar though, i always find those stones interesting because there's always so much history behind them

Yeah the neolithic history in Orkney is pretty crazy, I won't go into too much detail because you can look it all up, but its pretty cool. Theres another set of standing stones nearby that are thought to be the first in all of the British Isles. Archaeologists seem to think that whatever this culture, the same that built Stonehenge, was, they originated on Orkney and spread from there. the neolithic sites on Orkney are far more ancient than any others.

There's some town in this nature, but, well, it's scenic. From earlier today:

Going for my first proper exploration of the south island soon. It's been a freezing winter down there this year so hoping for some dramatic pics.... taking my surfboards too, i can almost feel the icey water coming out from the glaciers.

Maybe later tonight I'll sift through some of my China photos to post. They won't exactly be nature-only but they should at least be scenic.

^looking forward to it.

I submitted and joined instagram the other day. It's funny how a pic of mine that would get a bit of approval on this thread, will get no likes on instagram, but a photo of a sunset that's so photoshoped it looks like a sunset on jupiter or something gets praised as a masterpiece, funny how different peoples tastes are.

..........anyway, here's a couple taken today.

That's some amazing architecture, the patterns and colours look stunning too, maybe they could try some of those colour coordinates in some of these new suburbia houses.

Those reflections are awesome.

In retrospect, looking at all of my China pictures, I can safely say that my old phone was far superior for really crisp, colorful outdoor full-light photos but the new phone camera's definitely better for indoor or low light situations. I'll just have to remember to charge my old phone and bring it with me for situations where there's a lot of opportunity for beautiful outdoor shots.

Or you could just buy a camera that does both?

Haha yeah, but I'm a total shit photographer and taking pictures is just sort of a minor hobby that came along simply from getting to see so many beautiful things since I moved to Asia so I dunno if I could quite justify buying a decent camera, haha.

Kaikoura is nice, they do great crayfish on the side of the bloody road there. Awesome.

Haha nice. Haast Pass is indeed epic, such a great drive and amazing scenery through the whole area. Same with the Mount Cook area, I really need to get back and do a more extensive walk through there, as it's unbelievably awesome.
