That is beautiful, Dreamofdarkness. Was this picture taken in the morning?

EDIT: I went out today to walk a little and took some photographs. I live in the south of Sweden so we don't really have any forests, we do have a pretty big swamp near the local gun range though. Nobody really goes there so when you go down there you're all alone which is extremely relaxing...

Just got back from a five day trout fishing trip in the Australian Alps (no bloody fish though :grumble: ), and took a few snaps of our highest mountain (a piddling 2000+ meters) and Lake Jindabyne where we were fishing. Hope you enjoy!

"Australian alps" sounds as nonsensical as "Norwegian desert" to me. I didn't even know that snow was a thing in Australia.

What's next, fjords in Chile?

It's as real as I live and breathe though

Our alpine region has a ski season ranging from about April to September roughly, give or take some mild winters. It's not very large, but throughout the season approximately one million people will go there apparently. I have a friend who owns/runs some chalet accommodations and restaurants in the area, and it can get pretty hectic down there come the peak season period. Only place in the world where you'll see eucalyptus trees smothered in snow too.

should have danced around with your corpse paint on while you had the chance :-P that eucalyptus tree does look very out of place.

what sort of fish were you trying to catch ?

Rainbow, brown and brook trout, and any salmon that happen to be around which there wasn't! :fuck:

It was pretty cold on my last morning there. The water in my rod's guide runners froze, choking my braid, and causing ice to form on the spool

Here's a shot of the main lounge room where we were staying. Oh, and I adore under floor heating. Genius.

nice! never heard of brook trout, but i am not a big trout fisherman.

faarrk it was cold here today, massive cold snap. These ranges don't usually have snow but got a good dusting today. Made me laugh at how much the photo made it look like i had edited the ranges

Hah so it's same in the other side of the world too? No snow here though, just lots of fog.

dammit crushed that looks good. I love our WA coastline and desert and all but some nice snow capped mountains and some lakes would go down super well over here. It's been, I dunno, like 2 years+ since I've last seen a lake (frozen ones don't count)

Very amateur stuff taken on my phone, I drive tractors at the moment to earn some moolah so I get to see some nice rural places in Ireland and I just decided to take these photos, I know there's much nicer photos on this thread than these but I just thought I'd share these, must start taking more photos.

This place is like the most rural area I have ever been to  there's only a few houses in the area and a pub and it's just mountains and it's also about 20km away from the closest town, the roads into and out of the area are tiny and terribly kept.

This is a small coastal village near where I live and I was baling here and was on my break and took a photo, pretty nice spot to be honest.

BCM, you actually a surfer/lidder or? Me and the wife are keen on going there at some point and having a guide sure beats driving around blindly :)

This is a super cool wave but man it's heavy. It breaks about 1 metre from the headland. When it's 3-4 metres, it still breaks about 1 metre from the headland. Not a wave where you can stuff your bottom turn up :)

Image
Have a sunrise photo too.

the sunsrise shots pretty goo and those waves are fucking amazing!! there is a spot similar to that second over here in Mahia

i have surfed all my life, but haven't surfed in the last 3 years or so.
I know all the breaks around nz, not as much the south island though. I live in the heart of one of the best surfing areas of NZ (Taranaki).

I could tell you all the good areas for surf with a good description in the north island and a brief one in the south island in a pm if you want.

Taranaki is basically a massive cape around a big fuck off mountain, there is a road "the surf highway" that goes right around the coast and every off road is basically a good point or reef..kind of like west oz.

hear are some pics of different spots around taranaki ( the last one i took today)

I just love the light in the first picture, the golden quality of it. It's so warm and inviting. To think that it was below zero in December, with sleet and rain that day.
Image
(Two visiting friends of mine walking toward the rain)

The second one really got me, because there is so little colour in the nature. It's all in the man made structures... I thought that was pretty rad, because usually it's the other way around.

dang, those look like 8-10 foot high waves...I don't surf myself even though I used to live near the coast, but that looks pretty fun!

Please don't ever stop posting BCM. The more you post pics of New Zealand the more I want to retire there

I need to get my ass over to WA at some point too, not only for the raw and rugged coastline scenery, but for the plentiful fishing opportunities.

Not a close up mode. I did all the adjustments manually. To be honest the objective that came with the camera is pretty bad. The pictures become a little bit grainy when I'm usin longer focal length. So next I must invest in better objective. Maybe a macro or wide-angle lens.

But yes otherwise the camera is awesome and with better lens I should get the most out of it.
