Well, my 'funny' choice was always Primus - Wynona's Big Brown Beaver

On more 'serious' ones, one or more of these would be appropriate:
Bal-Sagoth - At the Altar of the Dreaming Gods
Jamie Cullum/Clint Eastwood - Gran Torino
Ildjarn-Nidhogg - After The Rain
Extreme - Everything Under the Sun - I: Rise 'n' Shine
Forefather - Miri It Is
Genesis - Undertow
Kwoon - I Lived on the Moon
Manilla Road - Tree of Life

I'm not really intent on having really uptempo metal at my funeral, as much as the idea used to entertain me. I want something everyone can find pleasant in some way.

Death - Voice of the Soul. Either that or If Your Happy and You Know It, wonder how many people would clap their hands?

I think people who commit suicide should have Deicide songs played and someone during the eulogy should say "Well, atleast they could do it".

I don't believe it, has no-one mentioned 'Hell Awaits' yet?

Note to cymruambythwxm: I'll clap! I don't know you but I'll do it anyway. And really loud, too!

Ta chief, I'd do it aswell if it was at someone elses funeral just because I'm a horrible bastard, plus if someone had that played at their funeral they probably had a pretty dark/strange sense of humour so would've appreciated it.

I think I am stealing DeathRider's idea here but 'See you in hell' or 'Rock you to hell' sound awesome. I wont go down depressing everyone thats for sure.

Hammerheart by Bathory. -Cheesy as it is, that song always makes me think of death in a happy way.
Perfection or Vanity by Dimmu Borgir. -Epic.
Some song by Sonata Arctica. I would say Only God Knows, but I'm not religious. I just really like the song.

Oh, and The Trapeze Swinger by Iron And Wine. XD

Normally one'd want their favourite song to be played, but I really don't have favourite songs.

I've always felt that some of Mogwai's more melancholic songs would really fit a funeral, especially one that I'd like to be had for me. Songs like Take Me Somewhere Nice have a hopeful vibe despite the melancholic sound, since I wouldn't want my funeral to be sad or depressing, but rather a goodbye sort of thing.

Here's the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHO6pbjQ9ec

For the same reason as the above song, I'd like to have Goodbye Europe or Sharks & Storms/Blizzard Of Horned Cats by Crippled Black Phoenix played.

insomnium - the bitter end
amon amarth - valhalle awaits me
insomnium - in the halls of awaiting
amorphis - silent waters
amon amarth - runes to my memory
at the gates - all life ends
blind guardian - nightfall
helloween - if i could fly
dark tranquility - my negation

children of bodom - follow the reaper(sorry, couldn't resist)
the absence - from your grave(again, i just couldn't resist it)

Zombie Ritual by Death during the service, just in case it works it's magic. If it fails, I'd like the Melted Face and Beat In Black route and have "Runes to my Memory" while I'm being lowered into my grave.

I was thinking about The Alan Parsons Project - Old and Wise

I just have to remember not to die at age 30 in a motorcycle accident, then it would just be emberrasingly innapropriate, otherwise it should get people crying like waterfalls.

I was thinking of "Dead Girl" by Acid Bath, because it's one of the most beautiful songs ever written, in my opinion. But, it's probably a bit 'inappropriate' given the lyrics, and it would probably get a few laughs, since I'm a long haired guy. I'll probably have "A Picture of Beauty and Innocence (Intro)/Comisserating the Celebration" by Cathedral, or "Bones of Baby Dolls by Acid Bath.

Anything off of Jesu's Conqueror would be very appropriate. Now that you've got me thinking, I'm torn between if I'd have 'em play Conqueror, Old Year, or Mother Earth...

I was thinking more along the lines of Silver or Lifeline...or perhaps the s/t (Friends Are Evil, We All Faulter would both work), but yeah anything by Jesu would be fitting, Old Year definitely.

I don't want to have a funeral or any sort of ceremony to mark my passing, but if my family and friends insist that I have one, it's not like I can stop them. So in the event that that happens, I would like "Komm, Susser Tod" (German for "Come, Sweet Death") from The End of Evangelion to be played along with footage from the movie. Like this:

Wait... You're saying you want anime clips shown at your funeral? That may just be the dorkiest thing I've ever heard.

Maybe. But it's far more interesting than the usual crap you see at funerals like baby pictures etc.

Far more likely to have people feel very confused and awkward. And then laugh at you once they get over the grieving period and are able to reflect on the service.

Song To Hall Up High- Bathory, is an obvious choice for me, best reason to believe in at least some sort of an afterlife. Sounds more like, "I'll see you all there too..." kind of goodbye.

or:

Severance- Dead-Can-Dance. I choose this because the lyrics/music are poignant and beautiful. Having a booklet in front of you with lyrics at the funeral will make sense, as the lyrical slant deals with change and passing. I would play this if my diabetic son happened to pass away too early(which won't happen!!).

or

I Am Stretched On Your Grave- Dead-Can-Dance. Rather macabre and sad choice this one. It's a rendition of a traditional song, but done so painfully well by Brendan Perry it will give you shivers.

Definitely. Baby/chronological photos might not be original but at least people would in some way respect that. That's pretty much the same reason why my selection of funeral songs aren't too raucous.
