Been playing through Max Payne 3. Fun game but ok Max, you're depressed, we get it. Shut the fuck up.

I would've replayed that game four times just for the gunplay if it wasn't for the stupid unskippable cutscenes. The whole "loading during cutscenes" is bullshit, it doesn't take a solid state drive five minutes to load the next part.

It's almost like it was made entirely with consoles in mind and the PC was naught but an afterthought.

Totally unlike all other Rockstar games post 1997, of course ;) .

This Max Payne 3 talk reminds me of this gem of a post from DarkeningDay and the most obnoxious thing I've seen posted on the internet.

Yeah, that's another thing. I've been keeping my guitar handy just to play a few riffs and stuff while the game loads. It's perfectly fine on a first playthrough (assuming you want to watch the cutscenes) but when doing a replay, it becomes a real pain.

And again whoever thought up of using these lame standup comedy lines every 2 sentences (was it Dan Houser who wrote it?) really has no idea how it works. Most of the things Max says/thinks in these monologues are downright cringe-worthy; it's stupid. They were going for showcasing the motivations of a broken man, but instead got a whiny crybaby. Gameplay though, is tight, really fun shootouts and clearing a room with a headshot is so satisfying.

I seriously liked the gameplay for Max Payne 3, and while I didn't mind the dramatic storytelling, I couldn't help but find that Max went too far in "I want to do good but fuck everything up anyway" territory. Even after re-evaluating himself halfway through the game and going bald he still pretty much makes the situation worse than it already was. Game was way longer than I thought it'd be, too, which isn't bad. At one point he literally walks through a favela looking like a really obvious, bald, white fat man. There was one entire cutscene where he could have done his slow-mo guns blazing thing that the game does every now and then but instead he walks in and surrenders and someone gets killed when I KNEW I could have taken out 10 guys in 5 seconds.

Apparently there's more information on Plants Vs. Zombies 2. I am totally looking forward to it as I enjoyed the first one a lot.
Only problem is that apparently it's only available for iOS. I think that's what the source said at least.

That was pretty bad, but FSM's two letter response to your query of "Can posts get any more pretentious than this?" was fairly amusing, so I regret nothing. :D

So The Last of Us is getting great reviews all around. Fuck me for only having an XBOX and fuck Naughty Dog for being cunts and making PS3 exclusives.

Anyone had a chance to play this? It looks pretty incredible.

Does anyone else have this problem? Thanks to Steam sales and Humble Bundles I'm buying games faster than I can play them. First world problems deluxe...

Anyways, the new Humble Bundle is pretty epic. And there's also a weekly one that has all the Serious Sam games.

Nah, they were sorta second party in the 90's but got acquired by Sony a bit later.

If applies, I'm playing Heroes Call with my android cell phone. It's a great rpg, especially for being a mobile app. I even think it might do it just well for PC; it has plot, feels like a rpg, the battle mode is fairly straightforward but you have a skill tree to spice up, the items are varied and the loot is usually good, it's not that easy and the overall look it's great.

Oh man Morrigan wasn't kidding when she said your backlog was huge.

I have.......

1, 2, 3, and 4. Assassin's Creed I, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Revelations, and III
5. Star Ocean The Last Hope International
6. Eternal Sonata
7. Fire Emblem Awakening
8. Shin Megami Tensei Soul Hackers
9. Pandora's Tower
10. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
11. Borderlands 2 DLC
12. Xenogears
13. Wild Arms
14. Fatal Frame (somehow I got lucky and got free $10 credit from Sony for no reason so I got this one)

I might count these but I didn't really buy them with the intention of playing.

15. God of War Chains of Olympus (came with PS3)
16. God of War Ghosts of Sparta (came with PS3)
17. Infamous 2 (PSN+ freebie)

So 14-17.

Since I'm a completionist, 400 hours seems about right for finishing all of these games.

I prioritize by game awesomeness and how close I am to being done. Assassin's Creed III is halfway done so that should be taken care of. Borderlands 2 DLC shouldn't be long and it's awesome. Pandora's Tower and Assassin's Creed I next probably with Monster Hunter sprinkled in. A JRPG if I've had too much Assassin's Creed and vice versa. Last of Us will probably automatically be given priority no matter what depending on how good it really is.

I don't know if I could prioritize with 200 games to choose from.

Sounds solid. As I said, I LOVED the first game (apart from the lag that seems to get me killed in the freeplay mode thing...)

Actually reading things a bit more thoroughly it'll be released on (pretty much) EVERYTHING later. But it'll start off free on iPod/Pad/Phone so I won't have to wait - although I'll probably get the PC version eventually. I know it's not gameplay, but it looks awesome nevertheless!

Mine actually isn't that bad. I have about 150 games in my Steam library right now, and I've played roughly half of them. Also, a fair amount of what's left is odds and ends I got in Humble Bundles that I'll probably fiddle with for a day or two and then quit.

I like having a lot of options to choose from when selecting a new game to play. My moods vary widely. Also, it's great insurance against buying a much-hyped brand new game for full price. Without my big backlog, I might've caved and bought the new Bioshock for $60! Instead, I'm playing through Duke 3D Megaton Edition, and I'll pick up Bioshock: Infinite when it's $5 in a year or so.

You say that as if it wasn't covered over and over again in the first 2 games. the narrative fits perfectly along the others. This game is great.

Mine's has been growing for several years. The oldest games sitting on the pile were bought in 2010. I do finish about three games per month on average though.

It's when you see something cheap. I don't really PC game, so I'm glad I don't have much of an interest in Steam. It would destroy me.

I disagree for the reasons discussed in this video. Though I disagree with both you and that video that Max Payne 3 is still any good at all.
When I found out the game gets infinitely easier once I stopped trying to play it like the old Max Paynes and started playing it like the clunky cover-based shooter it is, I stopped bothering with it.

I'm going to have to disagree there. In the first two games it made sense that he was looking for revenge or something (I honestly can't remember much of either one...) but here he's being whiny and trying WAY too hard to come up with an analogy to the fucked up situation he's gotten himself into. He's a mess, but seems to have forgotten why, so he's going around shooting people for the hell of it. The game gives a great insight into Max and fails to develop him at all, he's a caricature of a tired, rambling man who is on a murderous quest to do absolutely nothing and the only change he experiences is that he quits his substance abuse, nothing that couldn't have been done without shooting up half of Brazil.

The crying just didn't fit. He's one dude with superhuman reflexes and extremely proficient weapons training doing as best as he possibly can against an entire military police force and hundreds of pissed off Favela thugs. All the bad shit that happens during the story is usually because of something way beyond his control and yet he places the blame on himself.

Also, Max Payne 3 completely ignored the ending of the second game. "I had a dream of my wife. She was dead, but it was all right." Then fast forward to almost a decade later and Max is living in a shitty rundown apartment taking painkillers and drinking whiskey.

I recommend Spec Ops: The Line for variety: You do the worst you possible could and then blame it on others. :-P

I have a problem.

Ah, the infamous Steam-sale/bundlevitis. I wouldn't call that a problem though, as long as your backlogging habits don't push you into a financial tight spot - piracy is a "problem". What you're doing is the very opposite of piracy and is far more benign and preferable for everyone involved.

P.S: Yeah, go ahead and recommend a game and spoil it right away. Way to go man :-P

Spoiler: show
Eh, it's only a spoiler if you tell people it's a spoiler. Otherwise it could mean practically anything.

So I just got banned from a Halo online custom edition server for warping.... Which is weird because I wasn't warping at all. Atleast not to my knowledge. Could it be because of my low ping (around 30/40) or could it be because of the fact that I killed 6 people without dying in under 30 seconds and they thought of me as a bot? Gah, I hate it when I get banned for no apparent reason.

For all you fans of point-and-click games and claymation (who the hell doesn't love claymation) consider backing this new game on Kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1949537745/armikrog

The game is made by the same people who did The Neverhood and Skullmonkeys, so you know it has to be fucking awesome. Would be a crying shame if this didn't get backed...

edit: sorry, this was already mentioned in the previous page, but the more people see this the better!
