I know there are a quite a few fans of theirs on here and I saw that there was no topic about them, so I thought I might as well. So, what's your favorite songs? Mine are the classics such as Lady in Black, Easy Livin' and Bird of Prey. I don't really care for their music after 1979. Has anyone listened to their latest and is it any good?

Their latest sounded OK, from what I heard of it. It's not Uriah Heep, though, without David Byron and Ken Hensley.

I only own one Heep album right now (Look At Yourself), but that one's a classic, and I want more.

On vinyl I own "...Very 'Eavy ...Very 'Umble" and "Salisbury", I also have the CD compilation "Loud, Proud And Heavy".

Uriah Heep are a FANTASTIC band. "Gypsy" was a religious experience for me, one of the greatest songs ever written. "Too Scared To Run" is another favourite.

The loss of David Byron was definitely a real downer for the band, but I believe they have continued to make fantastic music throughout the years.

My dad has those and "The Very Best of" on LP. He's the one who got me into them.

David Byron was an amazing vocalist with a great range. He is just one of the few vocalists I can not complain about.

I like what I've heard. Songs like "The Wizard" get stuck in my head.

I got Sweet Freedom on vinyl, it's warped as fuck but damn. I haven't listened to Very 'eavy... Very 'umble in a long time, but I remember not liking it unfortunately. I might give it another try.

Lee Kerslake's drumming was a favorite part of them that I liked. But I liked his contributions in early Blizzard of Ozz the best.

Never were one of my favorite bands, but I do like them. They are kind of like Hawkwind to me; there are a handful of memorable songs that really stand out; the rest is good/listenable, but I don't often get the urge to listen to them.
Haven't heard anything later than Abominog - which I think is a pretty solid album if not all that memorable (to me at least).

I own the following LPs:

S/T 1970
The Magician's Birthday 1972
Sweet Freedom 1973
Uriah Heep Live 1973
Return To Fantasy 1975
The Best of... 1976
Innocent Victim 1977
Abominog 1982

Favorite songs are:
Gypsy
Sunrise
July Morning

Their Abominog album is great. That album is stylized in a very NWOBHM fashion, yet with more keyboards than the typical NWOBHM album. Great, heavy rockers on it though.

I've always had a soft spot for Uriah Heep, though I think I'm in the overall minority. They have a lot of catchy, memorable songs that go unnoticed. Either that or people seem to not know them when they hear them, which is odd to me 'cause I think they have quite a distinct sound.

A song like "Bird of Prey" doesn't get the credit it deserves, but one that should have some coffetti thrown in its honor is "Free 'n Easy" from their '77 Innocent Victim lp. It's pure speed metal, faster and more aggressive than Priest's "Exciter" a year later. Check it out.

People often badmouth their post-Byron material, but I like some of it quite a bit. Firefly has its moments.

I have their discography on the computer, but I never got around to listening it much of it. I can't remember much about them really, other than they were pretty good, and that July Morning was an awesome song.

The Magician's Birthday slays, and Demons and Wizards is quite good, too, if not quite as fantastic. I haven't heard anything else yet.

I was listening to them today during my auto body class (Easy Livin') and from what my teacher said, he's a pretty big fan. I thought that was pretty cool. But what I don't quite understand is is how come they really never caught on here in the US. (I don't know about Europe)

I like some songs on the debut and "Look at Yourself" a lot, although I feel taht they aren't totally consistent albums. I'm afraid to listen to anything that follows "The Magician's Birthday", though, as I got that album some time ago and found it to be incredibly corny in a way taht didn't really please me.

Ken Hensley is my favourite element of this band. WHat a great organ sound! "Gypsy" and the original version of "Bird of Prey" are brrilliant.

Not only are they a really talented band, but are great story tellers. I meen, I can visualize what David is singing with vivid detail. Not alot of bands can really put detailed images in my head while I'm listening.

They had such an ugly, noisome name that I never checked them out.

Demons and Wizards is one of my all time favorite albums. I love the lyrics and vocals in Circle of Hands, just so passionate. Easy Livin' is a song I could never get sick of, catchy as fuck and timless.

They also did a cover of Tin Soldier which i love. One of the few covers I like better then the original.
