Home of "hella". THat's all i need to say. If there is anyone else here that lives in the Bay, here is a place to post your likes/hates of it, whether it's the weather, the people, the prices, or whatever.I personally think it's cool except for gangstas, which i have the utmost hate for. i just think that it would be cool to know what the metalhead population is like here. And if i'm not being inclusive enough for all you foreigners, my bad. I'm a dumbshit, and i will forever remain one. Plus, 9 out of 10 of you guys are probably way cooler than i am.

I'm from Alameda. Its's a hella boring but awesome small island like 9 miles from San Fransisco

I think I just heard a rubbery-winged bat demon somewhere howl a cry of anguish, somewhere.

Anyway, I won't close this thread but for future reference, please try to make your threads a "bit" more insightful; set the precedent for the following conversation. Nine times out of ten, the opening post often dictates the quality of the discussion.

Can you expand more upon why you like or dislike the Bay Area?

I am from the Bay Area. I used to live in San Francisco, but now I live in the south bay (San Jose). I remember we had a pretty big San Francisco thread, it had more then two pages, but most of the users who posted there are gone :(.

I hail from the desolate wastes of the East Bay, which sounds a lot more cool than just saying "'Sup I'm from Lafayette." As I've said in the other US metal thread(s), the scene here is lively if you just find it. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean it's good, but it's so refreshing to actually have a metal scene to speak of after living for eight years in a state like Jersey where there is absolutely NONE. Rooster's Roadhouse in Alameda gets some metal shows occasionally, I played there about 2 months ago and it was pretty fun despite very limited draw. We'll probably try to play there again with another local band like Deadly Remains or something soon.

I'm from the East Bay, San Ramon to be more exact. Unfortunately all we have is lots of asians, indians, and wiggers. At least I don't live too far from the BART station so going into SF for concerts isnt too big of a pain.

Rasputin Records.

Yeah finding a Rasputin is probably your best bet. Can't really think of any other places besides Ameoba records which wouldn't really be worth the hour long drive compared to just stopping at a nearby Rasputin.

Any San Jose locals know what's up in terms of music? As far as I know, it's mostly hardcore and some rap.

Well if you're interested, my band Mefitis is playing with Nihlotep, Irony, and some other local bands on January 11 at Johnny V's (31 East Santa Clara St., San Jose).
I have a metal friend in the San Jose area, he drums and we're probably going to start jamming when I go to school in Santa Cruz.

sorry for rebumping this topic, but Rasputin doesn't have a wide selection. At least in San Francisco :/

I only found Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Priest, Maiden, and a lot of Thin Lizzy. The band shirts kind of sucked too. Too much Death Angel, not enough Overkill, etc.

I would suggest going to Amoeba on Haight St.
