New stuff in the last week or so:

Asia - s/t (vinyl)
Joe Lynn Turner - Rescue You (vinyl)
Foreigner - Head Games (vinyl)
Jethro Tull - Aqualung (vinyl)
Kiss - s/t (vinyl)
Kiss - Symphony: Alive IV
Kix - Midnite Dynamte
Kix - Rock Your Face Off
Atreyu - Long Live
Alesana - On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax
HIM - SWRMXS
HIM - Dark Light (Japanese press)
Bedlight For Blue Eyes - Life On Life's Terms

Most of this was cheap and that's why I got it. HIM - SWRMXS is a worthless remix album but it was like 2 bucks so thought what the hell.

Jack White - Blunderbuss

I've been listening to this multiple times a day. Crazy good. The songwriting is really great and the whole thing is so short and wastes no time. Really vibrant, folksy, standoffish album with a lot of cool things going on.

I've got a copy of Wovenhand's Consider the Birds: i've become a sucker for those dark and hypnotic Western atmospheres.. not to mention those vocals! :)

The last cd I bought was

Dennis Murphy & Julia Clifford - The Star Above the Garter; Traditional Fiddle Music from Sliabh Luachra

Quintessential for anyone interested in Irish and particularly Sliabh Luachra fiddling.

My copy of Minori Chihara's new album "Innocent Age" (first press limited DVD edition) arrived last week. I pre-ordered it back in March. Haven't had much time to listen to it, but so far I'm quite enjoying it. Really catchy J-pop songs.

Mortiis - "The Great Deceiver"

Hadn't purchased an industrial album in a long time, and this one is just fucking fantastic, start to finish. This has gotta be the best industrial album in quite a while, considering that:

Rammstein, Feindflug and Tactical Sekt haven't put out anything in ages;
NIN haven't put out anything decent since 2002;
The latest The Prodigy and Emigrate albums were terrible;
Marilyn Manson's last album, while good, was not industrial at all.

Architects - Lost Forever // Lost Together

One of the few metalcore albums I can call 'great'. Sort of like mid-era BMTH with a more intense vocal performance, the cliché aesthetic ditched and the occasional reminder of their mathcore infused past rolled into one heavy, chugging package. Excellent stuff. And really cool cover art too - I've always been a sucker for covers with white text on a black background.

Lush-Chorus. Boxset that comes in A book with all kinds of good stuff in it. If you ever wanted to give Lush A go pick this up. All their albums plus b-sides,remixes,live tracks...It is just great.

Steve Martin - The Crow
(Great playing, fun songs, some legitimately moving material on here as well as funny, Martin's got it.)

Brian Eno/Harold Budd - The Pearl
(A 'holy shit' album - prepared minimalist piano meets ambient. Relaxing as hell. Rainy morning music.)

Townes Van Zandt - The Late Great
(Real timeless sounding stuff. Also very depressing for the most part.)

Dirty Three - Dirty Three
(Another holy shit album. This is tagged as 'baroque punk' or something but it'll tear your heart out.)

Dirty Three - Horse Stories
(Even better. I'm convinced these guys can do no wrong.)

Current 93: calling for vanished faces

2 x CD compilation of previously released tracks spanning early 80's through 1999. Strangely enough my mate stumbled across 2 copies in a 2nd hand shop in Hobart while we were both down there recently. I had this way back when it first came out in 99-2000 era but somehow lost it, so really good to have a copy again. While they are quite patchy between albums, this collection of tracks is really strong. Made me realise that I've listened to very little they have done since then though.

Current 93: I am the last of the field that fell

Yet to listen to it so cant comment yet.
