I grew up with those classic Coverdale-Purple albums so this is pretty cool. I was expecting a new studio album but I think this probably necessary to remind people how great those records were. Plus, you'll get to hear them live instead of new tunes mashed into the setlist. I saw Whitesnake back in 2003 but I think I could ante up again if 'Sail Away' was in the setlist.

Whitesnake... they may very well be the most appropriately named band in music history. Their terrible noise seems to be nearly exclusive to the lower tier of the caucasian race; and they have, indeed, "snaked" their way onto a legitimate metal forum.

U mad bro?

I post tours in The Tavern if the band isn't listed on the site, that's what it's there for. Don't like it? Don't read it.

So this "new" album is just...a Deep Purple covers album? Yeah that sounds great...If they come 'round to my neck of the woods I might just go see them. I know saying this might be considered heresy, but I actually enjoyed their '87 album.

I am sorry, but there is already a thread reserved for Whitesnake here.

Coverdale's Purple albums and all of Whitesnake is some of the best music in the hard rock genre. When people talk shit on them I know their only frame of reference is a few music videos from 1987. Otherwise they wouldn't be talking. Their vintage late 70s, early 80s albums, the fantastic "Live in the Heart of the City", the unplugged "Starkers in Tokyo" and the last 2 studio albums with Doug Aldrich are all monsters. Then there's the aformentioned DP albums that go without saying. It's fine if you just don't like the band, but you can't slag them off like a one hit wonder joke.

Burn has to be one of my favorite albums of all time, will probably check this out to see how it stands.

Haven't heard much Whitesnake past their early ones, which are largely superb, but I would jump on the chance to see them if they are touring Mk.III/IV material round my neck of the woods. Burn and Stormbringer both have some stone cold classics on them.
