Quote:
VOLBEAT will embark on a North American tour in June with support from ICED EARTH and HELLYEAH.

Commented ICED EARTH mainman Jon Schaffer: "I'm completely stoked, VOLBEAT is one of my all-time favorite bands, and Michael and the boys are great people. There is a lot of mutual respect and admiration, and I think we are in for a hell of a good time! This will be a package that won't soon be forgotten, I'm sure of that.

"I want to thank VOLBEAT for the invitation, and I look forward to many years of laying down the metal as both bands continue to grow and reach new audiences around the world."

The dates are as follows:

June 18 - Toronto, ON - Kool Haus
June 19 - Detroit, MI - The Fillmore
June 21 - Boston, MA - House of Blues
June 23 - Clifton Park, NY - Northern Lights
June 26 - Saint Paul, MN - Myth
June 27 - Winnipeg, MB - Burton Cummings Theatre
June 29 - Weyburn SK - Crescent Point Place
June 30 - Gibbons, AB - Boonstock 2012
July 08 - San Francisco, CA - The Warfield
July 10 - Anaheim, CA - The Grove
July 11 - Tempe, AZ - Marquee Theatre
July 12 - Las Vegas, NV - House of Blues
July 15 - Colorado Springs, CO - City Auditorium

No Portland date.....FUCK!

You actually want to see those bands?

:ah-ha:

:)

But honestly, it's one of the worst tour lineup ever, only Blackguard is missing.

Bah, Hellyeah is the only one of those that is truly godawful.

I would love to see Volbeat at least once, and IE is fun live.

But I'd be arriving late.

Damn, too bad this an American tour. I'd definitely be there for Volbeat and Iced Earth!

I have to agree, these are some awful bands. Volbeat is probably the worst band I've heard in years, that people actually listen to that garbage is beyond me.

I don't like much "Nu" metal but Volbeat is one of those bands I can actually tolerate. They are certainly not the re-incarnation of Iron Maiden or Judas Priest or anything, but I think they are unfairly lumped in with all the SlipVayne/Draimen Park type bands. They have a decent sound and some good songs, and are clearly better than most of the mainstream "Metal" bands out there right now. (not to mention they do have more of a classical heavy metal influence than those bands.)

All the same, I don't know that I would run out and pay $40 (or whatever) to see this tour either.

This is likely to suck. I saw Volbeat opening for Megadeth and Motorhead in January, and they aren't a metal band. They're a decent, if unspectacular, hard rock band. How they got Iced Earth to open for them blows my mind.

Volbeat's "Warriors..." whatever was catchy, but that's about it. The rest of these guys I don't care about. Glad as hell they're skipping Seattle, lest we get subjected to more needless waste of energy.

I'm guessing Volbeat and Hellyeah are paying Jon a LOT of money to use their name to give them some credibility.

I love Iced Earth and I'm sure Volbeat is decent but why is Hellyeah on this? Talk about mismatched...

I laughed at both comments.

But seriously, this tour is terrible. At least I'll pass by the venue where this is taking place every day after work and be able to remember what you two said.

Iced Earth's Jon Schaffer and Volbeat's Michael Poulsen are buddies and fans of each other's music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_wLyA28hUI

Volbeat are a rad band. Wish they would tour here - maybe then I'd actually be able to get one of their CDs.

Hellyeah? WTF?

And when did Volbeat get to be the size of headlining over Iced Earth? Also, fuck them for being in Boston when I'm on tour. I wanted to see Iced Earth again...

One washed up band with a vocalist that sounds like Spongebob, one awful nu-metal band with Vinny Paul, and Volbeat. I'm not quite sure what the worst prospect of this tour is, to see Stu block butcher an already creatively flatlined band or to see Chad Gray do his best attempts at sounding Southern. This is definitely a tour that will go on for having one of the most lackluster lineups ever.

What exactly is Volbeat's appeal? I heard a couple of songs and honestly it was just really sub-standard groove metal (that's right, even groove metal has standards). Apparently they have some rockabilly leanings but all I heard was an upstroke ska chord underneath some boring groove riffs. I guess if Sabaton is a big band nowadays, Volbeat might as well be, too.

All these dates and not one close to me. Now I regret chosing to go to work last time they were local and my friend wanted me to go. I like Iced Earth. I'd be willing to suffer through the other two bands to see em HAHA

To me it is Hank Shermann playing with them live. He was a stand-in on the most recent tour and I don't know if he's still with them. I'd pay money to see him live again.

The only band I would want to see in this lineup is Iced Earth...but it wouldn't be the same without Matt Barlow for sure.

yeah I don't get all the Volbashing going on. Sure, they don't exactly have the most underground cred, nor are they the most cutting edge extreme music out there. To me they are like a modern version of 80's mainstream bands like Anvil, Fifth Angel, WASP, Scorpions or Accept: Hard-edged and genuine enough to be considered a legitimate metal band, heavier than the mainstream pop/glam/crap(or the modern equivalent of the same) but certainly still mainstream and lightweight compared to a lot of bands. I dig them for what they are; a good rocking band with some catchy songs(and some crappy ones.) But (like I said) theyre certainly NOT a new Metallica or Slayer and obviously not a hardcore underground metal band either.

I feel like I've missed something. I haven't put much into listening to Volbeat since perhaps the second album, but even then I'm only totally familiar with "Rock The Rebel/Metal The Devil"...have they changed a lot or something? Because that album had some great songs on it.

Also, they are COMPLETELY unknown here, at least I've never met anyone who knows them. Guess they are huge elsewhere.
