Hey all New Yorkers.

I'm visiting NYC from Sydney for 2 weeks beginning early July. I was hoping to catch a gig as last time I visited I wasn't able to find time. Are there any big metal or HC punk gigs happening during that time? I am yet to find any in my random searches of bands' itineraries.

That ought to help a bit.

The only one I know of is Scream It Like You Mean it, with The Acacia Strain and Oceano and a bunch of other bands of those sing/scream electronica bands that are ever so prevalent these days.

It's usually a good idea to check the listings for the venues, like Union Pool, Gramercy, Public Assembly, St Vitus, etc. From what I've seen, there isn't a lot booked (yet) for July.

Last.fm doesn't list much either:

Unfortunately, there isn't a great unified listing of shows in NYC that I know of, partly because there's a bit of separation between Brooklyn and Manhattan. The G train connects the two and can be unreliable at times.

Here are schedules of a few venues in Brooklyn:
http://www.last.fm/venue/9195857+The+Acheron/events
http://europaclub.com/concerts.php (not updated too often)

Major Manhattan venues (I don't think there's anything coming up):
BB King's House of Blues
Gramercy Theater
Best Buy Theater (formerly Nokia Theater)
Terminal 5

I'm forgetting some, and there are tons of small venues in Brooklyn that have metal and punk shows, especially independent ones.

Too bad you weren't getting there on June 30th.

I love that the flyer has the logos and the band names in plain text. I'll probably make the nightmare trek to Brooklyn for that show.

Awesome. Graves might be giving up their dead during that show. Enjoy :)

You mean Brooklyn and Queens? Anyway, the G train does suck big time after midnight. Wait times often reach 30 mins. In the middle of July, in a hot underground station? :nono: Not fun.

Here's one. It has links to MA band pages and venue websites. Pretty cool. http://www.nycmetalscene.com/

OP, St. Vitus has got to have something going on. They have shows 2-3 nights a week. Also, it's about an hour drive from NYC, but Dream Theater are playing in Huntington, Long Island on July 18th and 19th.

Thanks for that. Vitus sounds interesting.

Do any NY's know Orodruin? Aren't they from NYC? I'd be well keen to see them, or at least pick up an album or an EP.

I'm not sure what I mean, the only time I take trains other than the New Haven line to Manhattan, someone else is directing me :P

Early July is kinda dead... but there is this going on.

http://www.last.fm/event/3262309+Southe ... +Tour+2012

If you're interested I would say get your ticket ahead of time, as that venue is pretty small.

There's this in Queens on the 28th. My band Sorrowseed, Death Immortal, Unmerciful Reign, FireHaze, and Cryptorum at Gussy's.
