Hey, we have been having issues with several festival bookings lately and it's beginning to really make my trust in smaller festivals go down the drain!
All 5 bookings was confirmed between us and promotors, but later thrown away. They should know their budgets and just say no if they cant make ends meet because this is really annoying for the members who has to take time off work to arrive in time sometimes and if not we have to find substitute members but yeah... You can read our official statement in the text below
Original text:"Let's talk about something very important.
Over the last months, we have received confirmations of cancellations from our appearances in several festivals that we were negotiating. Some of them were talked for a long time in advance, and some were offered more recently.
You never got to see the posters, because they never got to make them fully public. Some were out without our names, and some never got published.
All of them were on a stage of talk, back and forth, but with their confirmation of full interest from the promoters to proceed. Not yet at a stage where contracts can be made.
Right now, we're talking about 5 festivals for Blazon Stone, 4 of them counting with both Blazon Stone + Bronze on the line up.
When we started talking with all of those promoters, they were happy and excited about having not one, but the two bands. Agreeing with the budget, terms, and conditions, and some even answering back with lines like “wow, that's very affordable for us!”.
We're not greedy, we're quite humble and easy to work with, and we asked for basic things that they happily agreed with on a first stance.
For all of those, transport and accommodation were the first thing requested by us, and agreed by the festivals. All of them have used the excuse of “not having enough money this year” when informing us.
Contacting artists to talk about a possible gig, and exchanging details to then agree but later back off, causes huge harm to the bands. We're independent artists who have to arrange the agenda of several people, reserve many extra days for those gigs, prepare merch and products in advance... not knowing if that contract is actually going to arrive. To later find out poor excuses to either cancel the festival or our appearance.
We're not powerful bands, we don't have access to professional booking agencies and we can't afford to go on adventures on our own as we would want to. But we deserve respect, as well as every band or artist out there who's working to defend their music.
If you don't have access to the budget in advance to go on with your festival/concert project, don't agree with what bands request. If you can't afford it, don't go on with a date that you're not going to be able to pay. And if your budget is reduced, be clear in advance.
We will soon announce festivals and gigs that are going to happen. We thank from the bottom of our hearts to those promoters who truly treat bands with love and do the best they can, thinking about the music first and foremost.
Respect for musicians.
