Overkill and Symphony X co-headliner tour, with both bands closing on different nights.

Don't think I'll go to this one. Never got much into Symphony X, and while Overkill isn't bad, there are a lot more thrash bands that I like better. But, it's 6 months away so no final decisions yet.

YES! I've been waiting to see Symphony X again since their last tour with Iced Earth. While I like Overkill, they tour often enough and I'm a bigger Symphony X fan, so I hope both bands get to play over an hour. Sometimes with these co-headlining tours the closing band will play a few extra songs, and I see that Overkill is closing the night I'd see them.

Which Symphony X albums have you heard, Indecency? If you've only heard a couple of their songs I'd check them out a little further. They're a really tight live band and don't tour often, so they're worth seeing, in my opinion. I don't know how much you like prog/power, but Symphony X is up there with the best.

I've heard their entire discography, but I don't think I've heard any song more than once. They just weren't my thing, from what I remember (granted this was like 4 years ago but then again, my tastes haven't changed much in this direction). My power I enjoy is usually the super fast and melodic type, or the type mixed with melodeath. I checked out Symphony X based off a recommendation of a brother of a friend a while back for something super operatic similar to some Kamelot songs. I don't remember being very impressed after checking them out.

Hmm, I've gotcha. Well they do have a handful of speedier songs, and they definitely don't lack melody. My favorite album of theirs is Divine Wings of Tragedy. Plenty of double bass action and neoclassical bits. That album possibly contains Russel Allen's best vocal performance, too. If you ever feel like it listen to it again. I remember hearing bits of Paradise Lost after it came out and was unimpressed, but now they're one of my favorite bands.

I will probably be at the NYC date. Not sure if I will stay for Overkill, as I find them to be completely uninteresting, but I have to see Symphony X again (I have seen them a bunch of times but it's never enough!).

Just got my ticket for the Worcester show. Two very different bands, but I am definitely excited to see both as I haven't seen either live yet.
