It's no problem. If you start noticing bands that aren't quite insignificant enough, give me the reason and I can eliminate them.

If you can't edit the post, just post the bands here if you want me to remove them from the list unless you're doing something else to keep track.

I've taken a look at some entries (not all of them, yet

) and took the liberty of editing your post.

The thing about this is that there's no real standard, at least not one written out in the rules and followed by every member of the staff. I usually feel that "XYZ" to "XYZ ABC" or "ZYX CBA" to "ZYX" isn't enough, while "XYZ" to "XYA" often is. Also to consider are things like difference in pronounciation, "Mystic" to "Mystique" doesn't strike me as enough. "Mystic Prophecy" to "Mystique" is another matter, though. Lots of possibilities. Then there's also genres to keep in mind. Did the band also take a stylistic turn when changing name? If yes, then it's usually best to keep the two entries. In any case, the issue will have to be dealt with the same way as with accepting bands based on metalness: case-by-case with a set of helping guidelines.

These are my thoughts on this, and with the exception of a few mods I have yet to hear a general statement on this by other staffers (and the owners, for that matter).

I've seen a lot of pages in need of merging so far, but covering them all is a demanding task as we don't have a tool for this like we do for artists. Every bit of info has to be moved by hand, which is tedious when the entry has 5+ albums.

Question: does the band Lips need their own entry if their release is the same as Anvil debut but released under the name "Lips" and does Kimmo Kuusniemi Band need their own entry if their release is the same as Sarcofagus "Motorbirds" released later? In the cases of Digger/Grave Digger it's clearly because Digger released different album but what about these two bands?

Another question: the band Plasmatics have Wendy O. Williams releases in their discography, which does not belong because Wendy O. Williams needs their own entry. Am I right?

At first glance I'd say yes, though I see that she has also released other albums with several other names. Maybe we should just keep everything in one page instead having four of them.
