I often see these instrumental tracks without the thing saying "instrumental" in the lyrics field, instead I just see nothing at all, but my rank is not high enough to edit that.

It would make the site look cleaner & better if there was something in the lyrics part for instrumental tracks. So when I see it, is it okay to report it or is it a bit too minor to report?

Yeah it's a checkbox that Veterans+ can tick to mark a song as instrumental.

It's fine to report any kind of correction, but it might take a while before someone gets to it since the report queue is huge, unfortunately. But go ahead, it can't hurt.

http://www.metal-archives.com/search?se ... song_title

but you do not see whether the box is checked.

Ah, good idea, another list to add to the TODOs. :) Whether the box is ticked or not, the words "instrumental" should never appear in the lyrics field anyway.

Edit: nevermind I saw these are titles, not lyrics. We can use the advanced search though.

here are the lyrics:

edit:
I wonder whether 'instrumental' catches all mistakes ... maybe some kind of variation of the term might appear as well.

Yeah, I've added both list to the TO DO page.

It's entirely possible that items on these lists are fine, especially the first search. For example, it's okay to write "instrumental" in the lyrics field in this manner (though the checkbox should still be ticked, which it wasn't). But, it's a good starting point to spot improperly tagged instrumental songs.

Hey, cool. :D *gets to work*

A request, though...could you add an edit button to the entries that links directly to the album-editing page? It would save me (and anyone else trying to clear out that first list) a lot of time.

Sorry, these lists are just normal searches, they aren't custom-made todo lists... :| maybe I'll add a tweak for that later.

Hmm I just noticed there is something wrong with the indexing of songs. I've corrected this album's track 5, and it still shows up in the search. Investigating this now.

instrumental = bad
instrumental = good

edit:
should samples be mentioned in the lyrics field of an otherwise instrumental track:

Yes, that's fine. Oh boy, some mojibakes on that album...

Edit: the indexing was timing out (not the usual issue that we have with the artists, something different now... :durr:). I've restarted the indexing server and it should be ok now.
Edit 2: OMFG the indexing is timing out again. WTF! :brick:
Edit 3: or not... false alarm? I just tried again and it worked this time. I wonder if it has something to do with too many people updating documents at the same time... :S This is annoying, anyway.

"Intro" is often the actual title of the song though. But :ugh: at the other lists... some people really fail at the Internet.

The thing is that 'intros' are often instrumental, even though this is not particularly mentioned on the entries. I though it worth listing in this thread. The three other lists above have been dealt with.

Well, you should check if they don't have occasional tracks with guest vocals.

aside from this ... I picked several bands and all their releases have no box ticked ... in any of the releases. Which is quite astounding.
