Not immediately eliminated:
XXL Not Metal
At Large (1997, rap metal?)
*Jay Shea - Vocals
*Chris Shea - Guitars
*Tony Patterson - Vocals
*Rich Capozzi - Bass, Vocals
*Paul Barstad - Guitar, Vocals
*Mike Tilden - Drums

Cannot find any samples from this band online, just videos for a Macedonian pop band of the same name. Not holding out hope, cause they state they play "Rap-inflected metal", but due diligence. From their Myspace, I can gather that they released at least one album, At Large, in the 1990s, and it was picked up and re-issued on Shredded Records in 1997.

The Myspace states that XXL were based in Boston, Mass., which makes me think that the band is possibly related to Dear Life, a Boston, Mass. traditional metal band on the site already that features a Chris Shea on guitar, Jay Shea on vocals and Mike Tilden on drums, much like the XXL lineup.

Thanks a lot, guys. :) I probably should have cleared those tiny lists out, but I posted them for the heck of it. MCH, I sent you a pm.

Edit: Ignore that PM, the whole thing's on spotify! https://open.spotify.com/album/1DlgwFuPQ8TrUrHJmPmI3o

And you're right about Dear Life, it's a former name according to their FB: https://www.facebook.com/XXL-3108854864 ... =page_info

Man, not a single thing from XXL showed up in my searching. You're a wizard, Harry.

I was not holding out much hope for a band categorized as "rap metal", but there were one or two songs on their that were not abominations. I'll update Dear Life as well.

Hal, this is hard work, dude. It's like going through a maze, thinking there's an exit somewhere, but, in fact, there isn't. It seems that out of 100 accounts, say, 50 are user accounts, 30 are bands that are either listed or blacklisted here, 10 are poser bands with no real songs let alone a valid release, 9 bands with a few songs but no release, and 1 potential addition.

Here's an idea... perhaps...
I remember when myspace URLs lost the www, HellBlazer ran a script to fix them all in one fell swoop. If he could in a similar fashion collect all the myspace URLs pertaining to all bands listed on MA in one file, and you could find an easy way to subtract them from your lists, we'd have a much sparser forest to go through. Does this make sense? Or have I just successfully demonstrated my e-Gnorance?

EDIT: I've just read this

I've also removed the ones already linked on MA

So... never mind.

Yeah, I did that. Might be slightly outdated because I did it last November. It looks like a lot of bands that are listed here already just don't have their myspaces added here, it's a fansite, or it's in the old format that no longer works. I did mess up and didn't account for spaces after the url (example: http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Astrum/60615), but I figured I'd fix those once I started chopping down the lists.

I might chop down the lists by band name later if it's really this bad .

Here's one that has promise, by the way:
https://myspace.com/enraizemetalnegro

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KonZQOcr6I
https://www.discogs.com/Enraize-Despera ... se/6368507

The discogs page has scans, so that might be enough for a submission.
