Nature and Organisation is a British neofolk side project of Current 93. I've heard the album Beauty Reaps the Blood of Solitude and didn't much care for the, I suppose, martial industrial type influences....except for 3 songs, two of which are nice, one that is brilliant. It is something like the latter song that I am hoping to hear.

What I like about it- the tender, mellow, melancholy, repetitive neofolk feel; the simplicity; the violin; the poetic, sad English-spoken lyrics. "God walked the Earth in those days....still in my heart he walks still". Beautiful.

I've not heard anything else from Nature and Organisation, and very little from Current 93. I do remember not liking much what I did hear from them, but it was a while back and I'm willing to give them another go if anyone finds a song from them that fits. I've heard very little of the big neofolk bands in general (Death in June and the like). Again, I remember not liking what I heard, but I'll give them another go with the right startpoint.

Please keep in mind...I'm not really interested in anything martial industrial sounding.

Nest - Last Vestige of Old Joy is the first thing that comes to mind. Unfortunately, their other albums are all instrumental, but this song seems to qualify. However, if you do like their style, you might like Syven, so I'll recommend that as well.
Second thing that comes to mind is Empyrium. I'd recommend all of their albums.

But yes, you should invest in the neofolk genre, there's a high chance there are many great bands I don't know (unfortunately I don't know a lot of neofolk, and some of it is just far too cheerful for me) that you will like.



(and if you ever attempt to look for a more metally version of something similar, Agalloch might just be it... in fact, I managed to find most Agalloch songs that might quality your request, not too shabby )

Death in June's discography is pretty varied, but I suspect you would probably prefer some of the material from the albums "Rose Clouds of Holocaust" and "But, What Ends When the Symbols Shatter":

I love Current 93 and a lot of the related bands, so my recommendations would be:

Current 93
Earth Covers Earth - One of the first apocalyptic folk albums, and it features the great track "Earth Covers Earth" and its reprise "Time Tryeth Truth."
Thunder Perfect Mind - This one is usually everyone's favorite. Every song is close to perfection, but "A Sad Sadness Song" stands out.
Of Ruine or Some Blazing Starre - My personal favorite featuring "All The World Makes Great Blood" and "The Great, Bloody and Bruised Veil of The World."
Soft Black Stars - Very much in the style that you want, except with piano instead of guitar. Another good one.

I know Michael Cashmore (of N&O) was on most of these...maybe not Earth Covers Earth...I can't remember.

Death in June is ok, but I find it a lot colder and detached, and their stuff doesn't exactly sound like "Bloodstreamruns." I agree with the other poster that you should focus on "But, What Ends When the Symbols Shatter?" and "Rose Clouds of Holocaust."

Fire + Ice are another one of the bigger neofolk acts worth looking into. I'd start with either the debut or Birdking.

Also, while it's not a very active thread, there's been some great stuff mentioned throughout here. I'd recommend taking a look.
