The war theme is important because I find the 'play by play' battlefield style lyrics matches death metal music perfectly. So while I've always already loved BOLT THROWER, I've also fallen for...

Hail of Bullets - both albums
God Dethroned - Passiondale & Under the Sign of the Iron Cross

These are the absolute best of the bunch. Just fantastic. I also found Battalion's "Welcome to the Warzone" pretty good but not as 'glorious' so to speak in the production/composition. Just downloaded Invasion's "Orchestrated Kill Manuever" so we shall see.

I don't really like Jungle Rot and have no interest in Asphyx, since HoB does it way better.

Thanks!

Sanguis Imperem-The Scourge of Men

Kinda similar to Bore thrower, except with a few hints of Grave and possibly Incantation. Boring after the fifth song but if you like that "heavy" simplistic death metal you'll like this

War Master-Pyramid of the Necropolis

Another Bore thrower spawn, a little more cavernous sounding than Sanguis in terms of production

If you've heard of Asphyx, Bore thrower, and Jungle rot I'm assuming you've heard of Grave and Vader?

Thing is, Suicide Silence actually are more sonically massive than a good 95% of all the death metal bands in the Archives! Not metal, sure, but definitely a lot more brutal.

Yeah I know Grave and Vader but I'm looking for war themes only. I don't like the occult lyrics. If it's a bigger named band, I know them. I'm browsing for underground stuff that I would have missed.

@ OP - Asphyx is very different in style from HOB, I have no idea what is it that HOB do better than Asphyx when they play different stuff from each other. The fact that the lyrics must be about war also limits stuff that could be suggested. There's always Malevolent Creation's post 2002 albums though.

@ Veracs - "Bore Thrower"? You sir have made an enemy this day! :getout:

On the war theme and death metal: Sotajumala (lyrics in finnish, but I am pretty sure it is about war. At least Sotajumala means war god :)
Also on war theme: Marduk - Panzer Division Marduk, perhaps to much black for your taste, awesome album in my opinion.
