Hey guys,

It's a bit strange, but I was thinking about making a band with these aspects:

- Odd Time Signatures and/or Polyrhythm

- Killer Punky few-chords riffstyle but with unusual harmonies and progressions

- Sick drum-filling

- Not chaotic

- Extrapoints if with Death Growls such as Derrick Green or Mikko Kotamäki

Is there any band with this style, to take a listen and have more ideas? I've heard that powerviolence is somewhat related, is it true? Can someone point me out an example?

EDIT- Here are some prog riffs/breaks that I'd like to have it crust-punky:
Circus Maximus - Namaste: http://youtu.be/CX-CaFsKQoE?t=1m47s
Symphony X - Dehumanized: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtlsvUfqY5s
Meshuggah - Bleed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qc98u-eGzlc
Meshuggah - Combustion: http://youtu.be/qIuX-8g5hMs?t=47s

Honestly the only band that I can slightly reccomend is Crazy Spirit. Crazy Spirit sounds really similar to weird italian hardcore bands like Cheetah Chrome Motherfuckers and I Refuse It! Weird kind of progressive punk that isn't chaotic. Crazy Spirits and CCM's vocals are kind of harsh.

Crazy Spirit

Powerviolence is not really related to that at all. Powerviolence is like faster hardcore. Sometimes powerviolence has metal influences sometimes not. Stuff like Despise You, Lack of Interest, Crossed Out, Spazz and Charles Bronson are noteable examples of powerviolence.

Neurosis' second album is the only one that is coming to my mind right now.

Misanthropic

as wizard said... maybe power violence would have something you'd dig. I know it's a stretch but you're asking for something really unusual

Since we are reccomending Bastard Noise might as well reccomend their other bands.

Check out Man is the Bastard, Neanderthal and Pissed Happy Children.

For MitB get The Capitalist Casualties split, The Sum of the Men "The Brutality Continues..." and Abundance of Guns.

Second album? Are you sure about that, or did you just forget their early punk records!?

I'm digging those bands, most of those bands are not really what I had in mind. On the other hand, I heard Neurosis' Double-Edged Sword and it really clicked on me. More tracks like this (especially if more metal-texturized) are welcome.

Maybe Contropotere will work for you. Their first album is mostly made up of rather typical/simple hardcore and crust riffs but even it has some rather long songs with progressive ambitions, while their second showed significantly more complexity.

There is Gasp, though and they are exactly what op is looking for.

Amebix - 1987 - Monolith might be similar enough to what you are looking for, OP, the song I.C.B.M. is one of my favourites.
