I can't stop listening to Ulcerate. Specifically, I can't stop listening to The Destroyers of All. The drumming on the record is incredible.

Can anyone recommend bands that have that same kind of dissonance and crazy drum-work? The drumming does it for me so much more than wankin' off on the guitars.

I primarily listen to a lot of doom and black metal with a sprinkling of death metal here and there so this is new territory for me. Though, I did go through a few months of a grindcore phase a couple of years ago and listened to a ton of Pig Destroyer etc etc, but my primary/favorite metal bands are Cobalt, Agalloch, Pallbearer, Horseback, Inquisition, Krallice etc etc.

New DsO has that same chaotic, yet sometimes catchy feel that Destroyers of all has. As does their release before Drought. Check those both out. Oh, and uh, Drought was probably the best thing put out this year.

From Drought

From Paracletus

Flourishing might also be up your ally. The drumming doesn't compare, but the mixture of atonality and melody might appeal to you- i put all three of these bands in the same realm of strangely dissonant yet catchy. Give this one the full length of the track, takes a bit to sink in.

And of course there's Gorguts

And here are some longshots

Might want to give dephosphorus a try http://dephosphorus.bandcamp.com/ drumming isn't up there as DsO or ulcerate but maybe you'll like cause of the riffs and atmosphere. sorta

Also def check out Decahedron right up there with DsO and Ulcerate in my opinion

I would recommend one of my bands but it would probably be reported as spamming :/

Well I'm used to someone always reporting me for as such even if it's valid and usually don't meantion it's me anyway, but thanks

What I would also suggest now that I'm free to is uzumaki, it's pretty much all chaotic dissonance and free jazz drumming with blasts.

the latest release which is the best mixed to date:
