Apart from metal, Leonard Cohen is one of my favorites. The song Avalanche is darker than most metal I've ever heard. I would love to find some more acoustic music that could be characterized as: minimalist, dark, brooding, and beautiful. Any help here is appreciated. P.S. It's obviously not mandatory, but if you are not familiar with the song, it would be really nice if you took a listen before penning suggestions.

I would suggest some nick cave, albums like let love in, henrys dream and tender prey are amazing dark albums. While the material is not accoustic, it is very dark and brooding to various degrees. like cohen, cave has a wonderful voice for the dark twisted rock he plays. while they are not exactly similar i enjoy both cohen and cave emencly.
