Keeping this succinct, I'm essentially looking for music like it. Instrumental music that captures the cold, dark and melancholic atmosphere of that intro. That feeling of being trapped in some frozen, desolate, sun-forsaken wasteland where there's nothing but death, isolation and misery is what I hope to extract.

That's not right. That's not even wrong. It's so fundamentally inaccurate that I think it may well be incorrectable.

Before we start, yay or nay to DSBM?

If you're ok with some intermittent vocals I would have immediately suggested Coldworld or Forest Silence.

Semi-yay. I find a lot of DSBM to be boring. I should've also mentioned I'm not really looking for metal or anything heavy, rather tranquil and atmospheric instrumental music that's similar in description to the intro of the song I posted.

Maybe "Apparitions of Death" by Drowning the Light, the outro song on their Fading Rays of the Sun EP. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZo0xyUpM2s

I hit play, and was overcome with the urge to be physically inactive! Great music!
