Ancient Bards is my favorite new band to continue the catchy power metal style of the late 90s/early 00s that seemed to bite the dust in the last 10 years. ReinXeed is very good, too, along with Lorenguard and Seven Kingdoms.

Anyone know of some other quality bands to come around in the last few years to carry on that style of power metal?

Fast and cheesy? Meet pathfinder. (may be a little too symphonic for you the production is pretty airy too)

I know of Pathfinder, but I don't find any of their music particularly memorable. Not a fan of the singer or the modern use of blast beats, either. That's a rather huge turnoff for this particular request.

Ah, ok. This thread interests me, so I'll hold off form creating anything new; looks like you're basically looking for europower with over the top, melodic guitars and a full production. You probably know of Black Majesty, Celesty, and Gallowglass, and they aren't even really recent per se. There's also cains offering but being tied to SA you've probably heard of them. You usually dig up some really good, obscure europm some I'm kind of at a loss to help you.

Yup, heard them all. Black Majesty seems more mid-paced and resigned to their own style rather than writing catchier hooks and choruses. Maybe I haven't heard the right songs, but that was my impression. Celesty is awesome. Thanks for reminding me about them! And I enjoyed Galloglass's run while it lasted. Not sure what their story is now.

I was blown away by vendetta in that they released in '09. Galloglass is on hold.

This thread is so desperately crying out for Dreamtale that it's painful. Also Dawn of Destiny.

Both are cheesy, I guess? But more importantly, they're catchy and they're awesome.

I've heard Dawn of Destiny. Haven't listened to their new album yet, but I'm not the biggest fan of the one that came before. Rebellion in Heaven is definitely my favorite.

Dreamtale, I actually forgot about. Haven't listened to them since Ocean's Heart. Thanks for the reminder!

Just discovered Last Kingdom. They definitely fit the bill.

Anybody have any other bands?
