I'm a noob when it comes to crust- all I know about are Amebix and Nausea. Anything and everything would be fine as a rec.

His Hero Is Gone is another influential band you should check out. One of my favorite crust acts ever.

You need some Dystopia, an adventurous mix of crust, sludge and sometimes grindcore. They have some pretty cool/weird atmospheric sections and some crazy bass lines. As you can probably tell by my username they're one of my favourite bands http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DDQwddR_fA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLiy5KKrSFE

Cursed, a band from Canada, is another one with a pretty successful mix of sludge and crust. They have a really strong punk energy, too bad they broke up.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyTqbVGAt_s
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-l2hi9W9xQ

Definitely seconding Behind Enemy Lines, especially their album Global Cannibal (also, their drummer is a sick artist and possibly the most muscular person in a metal band.) Their music is a relentless mix of thrash and crust punk, with in depth political satire/commentary as lyrics:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlnWC7JvOi0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zo78Zpq-I6M

Corpus Vile (UK) have a pretty cool mix of crust and melodic doom metal. They have high quality song writing and infectious melodies, even if their production is a little rough:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emKFJknruPg

A few more crust bands I like are Nux Vomica, Alpinist and Tragedy.

Also since you like Nausea, heres an awesome cover of "Extinction" by Cobalt:

Check them out. Seriously, you won't be disappointed. Listening to them is like waking up in a mental institution after a heroin overdose.

Oh and mad props to Raw Hate. Drunk As Fuck Existence is one hell of an album.

I am simply going to take it on faith that you can say this based on personal experience...

But yeah, Dystopia's the fucking shit.

Also, speaking of Dystopia basslines...

The end of the 7" version of Diary of a Battered Child... HOOOOLY shit.
I sort of hate that they wrecked it by overlaying fucking BREAKFAST CLUB samples on the beginning and endings of the song...

Better 1?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3ZpTPfdb2I

or better 2?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLscFtNj9y0

CRIKEY! I can feel myself sinking into the sluuuuuuuudge with that one, haha.

PS: The second link include the B-side of the split in the same video, so that's two diff. bands in one continuous track... Dystopia's song ends less than halfway thru the video.

I've never been a big fan, but I remember listening to a crust band called Disgust back in the early 90s. Mostly just to piss off my parents.

I had no idea there was to versions, I assumed it was the same on each release. Yeah, thats some pretty crushing bass. I actually kind of like the breakfast club samples, they totally fit the song.

I guess it's just because I heard the old 7" version first, so the later version on the Aftermath comp seemed weird.
The short comment I made on Discogs sums up my feelings pretty well:

Quote:
The version of Diary Of A Battered Child on this split is the same as the version on The Aftermath with the exception of the missing Breakfast Club samples heard at the beginning and end of the version on The Aftermath, which were probably applied to the recording around the time of the compiling of tracks for that album.

I personally prefer the 7" version without those goofy samples as I feel they distract from the really heavy and depressive atmosphere of this song, particularly during the reeling, sludgy breakdown at the end. I guess it's just hard for me to not find Breakfast Club samples a bit funny.

Skaven, Stormcrow, Sanctum, Martyrdod haven't been mentioned in here and are essential, IMO.

I hear yiz... I honestly can't believe people still manage to start doing it people who weren't in some way influened to do it as children/young adolescents, I mean, though, in all fairness, a lot of scumbag-ass gutter-living crusties most likely did start at early, impressionable ages).

also, I already made a thread mentioning them recently, but I really like Jobbykrust, so fuck you all!:

While were on the subject of Dystopia I recently discovered Sea of Deprivation. Similar vocals and that same style of chaotic, bass heavy crust.

Sea of Deprivation rule! Misanthropic are very similar to them as well, and I believe were kind of a "pre-cursor" to them (a few members went onto SoD)
