I've been a huge fan of southern metal for awhile now. The problem is that there's not that many southern metal bands that I know. I'm aware of the obvious bands like Pantera, Down, Eyehategod, and all the other NOLA bands. I've been trying to find relatively new bands that have that southern "sound." The only two I've discovered that are decent are The Sign of the Southern Cross and All Hail the Yeti (although the dime-a-dozen vocalist prevents them from being better.)

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and don't bother posting Texas Hippie Coalition.

Hmm, maybe I can help a bit.

Blue Barrel are an awesome southern metal band from Brazil, of all places. Great vocals.

Blue Barrel - The Waterhouse

Blue Barrel - Set to Perish

A lot of Alice in Chains' 2009 effort more or less fits the southern metal sound, in my opinion:

Alice in Chains - Last of My Kind

Some old Black Label Society is an obvious but solid suggestion:

Black Label Society - Bored to Tears

You already know Pantera and Down - those are the only other southern bands I like so far, besides the southern-style sludge of Acid Bath:

Acid Bath - The Mortician's Flame

And their best song, Scream of the Butterfly

Enjoy.

I'm going to assume you know Alabama Thunderpussy and Zakk Wylde.

King Giant is a pretty good southern/stoner metal band, their first album Southern Darkness is really good, though I haven't heard their most recent album yet.

Please don't bring feels to Metal Archives. I'm content with nihilism.

Maybe you know them, but Pride and Glory's only full length is a great listen.
The lineup is simply amazing: Zakk Wilde, Brian Tichy and James LoMenzo

Also, you may dig Seventh Void (If you happen to like Type O Negative, this band has Kenny Hickey on guitar and vocals)
