So I rediscovered how much I love Thy Light and Swallow the Sun recently and along with that I rediscovered my frustration with Thy Light only having a demo out...

Along with that I've been listening to Emperor and Dimmu (Death Cult Armageddon & For All Tid) cuz I love me some Symphy Black Metal

More along the Lines of Thy Light, however, I've also gotten into Woods of Desolation. They don't have symphonic elements but something about them really reminds me of minor/simple symphonic elements. By minor/simple I mean what I refer to simply as "Symphy Keys". You know what I mean - Those kind of Emperorish keys rather than complicated/full/realistic orchestral things like in Dimmu's DCA.

Thy Light - "I Am the Bitter Taste of Gall" is a near perfect example of the kind of symphy keys I want

Morker - Dyster Tid is another pretty good example

however more realistic symphonic elements are welcome too, I just like the Symphy Keys a lil more most of the time.

Anyways, What I'm looking for is essentially DSBM similar to Thy Light. Depressive, symphy Keys, slow/slowish, kinda simple, preferably black metal.
Black/Doom, Death/Doom, Funeral Doom etc is cool too.

Sounds like you might be pretty interested in Fear of Eternity.
I picked up the album "Funeral Mass" in the discount bin at some record store for like $4.99, having never heard of the band prior to that. What an awesome find! Normally I don't get down to the symphonic BM shit anymore as I'm no longer 17, and it's true, Fear of Eternity have that synth-heavy production mix that I usually would have no problem boycotting any band with a similar sound. Upon the first listen no less (which could last all of 15 seconds).

Fear of Eternity got lucky with me (lol) and gained a fan. There's just nothing wrong with this album imo.

Then again, I love it when it's slow, ridiculously mournful, with an extremely unhealthy dose of monotony. Proceed as you will... :hail:
