I'm a pretty big fan of post-rock/metal (Russian Circles, Toundra, The Seven Mile Journey), and I love Dissection worshiping blackened death metal (Naglfar, Thulcandra). It seems like a fusion of the two styles would be something I would be into. So where should I get started with post-black metal? I'd preferably like clean, modern sounding production with a lot of delay on the guitars, clean bass, and acoustic drums, but I'll take any recommendations. Any help is appreciated!

Try some Les Discrets, they're a French band created by a man named Fursy Teyssier so he could match his visual art to music. They're simply incredible.

First two Lantlos albums are mandatory, as is Altar of Plagues' debut. There isn't really any post-black that is Dissection worshipping though, or even anywhere close to death metal really. It tends to be more on the atmospheric and mellow side. Tombs' Path of Totality is also pretty killer, if a bit different. Then there's whole "Cascadian" movement, which is somewhat related. All of Ash Borer's material is phenomenal. Wolves in the Throne Room's Two Hunters is a minor classic worth listening to as well. There's also Fell Voices, Skagos, Alda, Panopticon.. and plenty more that others could tell you more about I'm sure, as I don't listen to much of that.

Oh, oh, I had a periodic obsession with that perticular genre, so it's my pleasure, to help you out :D

first of all, I would probably say you should listen to Alcest (hope it's not too obvious of an rec) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiFVhu3E ... re=related

If you liked alcset you can check all of the related projects (Amesoeurs, Lantlôs, Les Discrets, Old Silver Key, ...)

I think you would also enjoy Heretoir, the debut album is amazing, and soon he will release a re-recorded ep with some new songs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0ST3WJLRXA

A quite good band is also Líam, with a bit more distorted guitars, but nice melodies nonetheless http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0RkFmTdcEY

A more recent discovery I made is Súl Ad Astral which I loved almost instantly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nX4SmIhRdMQ

And a few more worth checking out: Falloch, Svarti Loghin, Cold Body Radiation and some albums from Sun Devoured Earth.

Also Wolves In The Throne Room, Altar Of Plagues and Skagos (as mentioned in the post above) are really amazing and worth checking out

Hope that helps :D

Thanks everyone! Súl Ad Astral and Altar of Plagues have been my favorites so far, but I'm honestly liking all of it.

Instead of recommeneding post black metal, here's a couple of black metal bands that have some of the qualities you mentioned and are great as black metal: Varuna, Vinterriket, Urfaust, Abigor...

I was just listening to a bit of Altar of Plagues and I was reminded of Fen. I'm not sure if they're considered Post-Black metal, I don't have the best understanding of the genre, but you'd probably like them.
