Aside from Satyricon's debut. And I don't just mean bands with lyrics about medieval times/a medieval aesthetic, I'm talking full on incorporation of medieval instruments (such as the hurdy gurdy) with medieval rhythms and melodies.

It definitely exists, I just don't know where to look. What say you?

Also, I'm aware the search function with "medieval black" yields results but I'm curious as to what others think the bands most worth checking out are.

Drudkh of course incorporate them here and there, if you're not already familiar with them. It's not really outright incorporation as it sounds like you're looking for no, but they definitely do appear here and there a bit (such as intros and acoustic passages), and at the very least they frequently have very folk-based melodies you may enjoy. Might be a good starting point at least.

Listen to Heol Telwen which is Celtic black metal.

Their instruments include a whistle, bombarde, epinette, and bagpipes according to the site.

Haven't heard them in years but I used to listen to them quite a bit. Very good stuff.
In reference to Baby Metal
