Hi Metalheads.

I'm trying to find some Johnny Cash songs, something dark if you understand.
Something like this:

Hurt (Cover, Original from NIN)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l95D7leeU3w

God's Gonna Cut You Down
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IStlBOX9F4o

Ain't no grave
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naff3FcUuHo

That's all i have :)
Thanks for any possible recommendation!

Why don't you check his compilations.

Check out Murder especially. While I'm there, check out Those Poor Bastards and 16 Horsepower, both amazing alternative dark country bands.

Home of the Blues, The Letter Edged in Black, I Hung My Head, the list goes on.. also, seconding Those Poor Bastards and adding the leadsingers sideproject Lonesome Wyatt and the Holy Spooks, their debut is some pretty dark stuff.

The American Recordings albums are all terrific for that; I'd single out The Mercy Seat, Like the 309 and The Man Comes Around. But there's plenty of earlier stuff too, most obviously Cocaine Blues and Folsom Prison Blues.

Mid-career, I'd say his cover of Bruce Springsteen's Highway Patrolman is pretty darn amazing. (Sorry I can't give you YouTube links - the German state is careful to fence us in so we can't look at a load of stuff).

Thirteen is a great, dark song with amazing lyrics, written for him by Glenn Danzig (who also performed it later):

As Dux_Saxoniae says, the American Recordings are very dark albums with great songs!

Yep, all of the American recordings have a dark and genuine feel to them; it's almost (and sometimes, certainly) like he can sense that the end is near. For this reason, they are hands down my favourite Cash recordings.
