Saw an exercise thread but not a running one. I've been running to work, and running to and from my friends house on my lunch break, so I'm getting caught up on my library. What're some good bands to run with? I've had good luck from Walknut, Vader, Darkthrone, Dying Fetus, Meshuggah, Ne Obliviscaris, Winterwolf, Disgorge, Defeated Sanity, Master, Bolt Thrower, Augury, Lair of the Minotaur, Orchidectomy, Wormed and the almighty Molested  !

The Absence can really motivate me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=de3QQlrr ... re=related

Something about their melodies and aggressive style.

Good choice with Fetus, Disgorge, Defeated Sanity, and Bolt Thrower. I don't really see how Darkthrone could work, unless its the new stuff I guess.

Anyway, try Tara by Absu. The drums are like Reign In Blood era Dave Lombardo on some serious crack and the guitar riffs are blazing fast as well. It's also a decent length. Clocking in at about 54 minutes it should get you through a decent chunk of your run if you were to listen to it straight through (which I'd imagine you would because you wouldn't skip around songs while running).

I don't run, but Kvelertak always gives me an energetic vibe, so try them.

I guess this would partially be based upon one's taste, but I am an avid runner and I find that having the appropriate mix for my runs is crucial! Lately I have been listening to Speedwolf, Skeletonwitch, Dishammer, Unanimated, and I generally throw in some Naglfar and Disfear as well. For me, thrash and d-beat stuff are perfect for keeping my ass moving

Try Symbyosis. I find it to be well-paced (generally up-tempo), fairly technical and just a lot of fun to listen to: http://grooveshark.com/s/Crusades+Part+IV/3QzSjH?src=5

My mile run is 6:12, my record for making it to work (1.6 miles) is 9 flat, with my longest run without stopping is 7 miles. I hope to top these by the end of the season, so I've been working at it for the past two weeks. The recs are beautiful, keep them coming!

Anything upbeat and fast paced (without a lot of tempo changes and what not) should be good for running. I don't understand why you'd need recommendations for this, I am more than sure you know loads of bands that will suit your activity fine.

That being said, I recommend Iced Earth's 'Alive in Athens' (minus the slower songs) if you want some aggressive heavy/thrash metal, as well as Overkill. If you want heavier stuff I recommend Origin (if you run at the music's pace you'll be sprinting to work) or Inveracity.

But really I could have recommended ANY other thrash or technical/brutal death metal band and it would still be great for running. These recs were based on what I listened to mostly when I trained for competitive cross country running.

Also, what is your work, if you don't mind me asking? Do they have a shower there or do you show there every morning sweating? :-P
Its generally a bad idea to listen to music when crossing roads and what not, if there's some of that involved in your run. I have almost gotten run over by cars several times--I only listen to music when I run in isolated areas or parks now.

I've just beat my time to my friends house by twenty seconds! Grave helped me out this time, though I've definitely been feeling Iced Earth, Kvelertak, and Absu. I haven't tried the others just yet for a run. It's not so much that I feel the need to come here as much as I just like to here your inputs.

Yes, I show up sweaty, but no one cares as long as I get the store taken care of, and I drink and spray the odor away. I only have a couple of car crossings to worry about, luckily.
