Also check out Machinae Supremacy if you havent already.

you mean the Machinae Supremacy mentioned in his OP? ;) anyway - great, great band!

edit: not really Sci-Fi but def. very futuristic (ok, a more near future so to say) imo is Devin Townsend's Ocean Machine project with the "Biomech" album. Not that this is just one of the best records ever released ( ;) ) but it also features a very subtle but "feelable" near-future atmosphere evoking images of neon-lighted yet dark cities with a slight shimmer of hope somewhere lurking in the corners. Some kind of rainy Blade Runnere-esque stuff so to say...

Also Devin's "Physicist" & "Accelerated Evolution" album shares this atmosphere imo as well as some other tracks of other albums. Not to forget his "City" album with Strapping Young Lad!!!

They're not in the Archives, but you should check out Gru.

You might want to give Last Chance to Reason a shot. Very synth heavy, the latest album, Level 2, release last year is really underated I find.

Last Chance to Reason is really awesome. I certainly think they should be on the Archives, but whatever. Good music nonetheless.

I used to have Eschaton by Anaal Nathrakh, check that out. I used to love that album... must find a new copy.

To follow up on my Augury rec, check out progressive ambient band Humanoid. Contains members of aforementioned Augury and Unexpect. On the topic of instrumental bands, maybe some Blotted Science and Exivious as well if they have yet to mentioned?
