pretty short description of what you exactly need but based on the bands alone I think you might like

Natural Spirit - folk/pagan metal with both male and female vocals and (thankfully) not music of the "bouncy" happy folk side:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxT6awf4Vc4

Kamaedzitca and Piarevaracien- both pagan metal with some kind of "other" approach to the genre. at least to me they sound somehow special and are very outstanding

Weeping Twilight - melodic folk/doom/pagan metal. Some very finde melodies stuff
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUcNLmOohkw

btw - all four bands hail from Belarus and (some more, some less) have this special kind of guitar riffs found in the music of the great Gods Tower which obviously influenced all four bands...

finally I reccommend Dalriada from Hungary who play some really great not-cheesy folk metal (possibly the most folky of all my recs here), esp. their "Szelek" album
