Any more modern crust in the vein of Trap Them and All Pigs Must Die? Think lower-pitched vocals and a strong bass line / groove / bit of melody.

Can someone point me in the direction of some recent Finnish hardcore bands? I love the classics but I know almost nothing about the current Finnish scene (it is supposed to have tons of cool bands). I prefer classic hardcore and d-beat/crust but almost any style (apart from emo/screamo) will do. Would be cool if the stuff was available on CD but it is not a must.

Yeah I've been searching as well but didn't find any of my likings except for the 80's classics like Kaaos and Bastards myself. LastFM lists quite a few: http://www.last.fm/tag/finnish%20hardcore/artists

Man, I'm still getting caught up on my Swedish hardcore/crust/D-beat, let alone Finnish...

Crypt666 and NbleSavage:

Both you guys might like this crust/death metal band from Oakland, CA called Stormcrow. I just picked up their split LP with Sanctum, which I would definitely recommend for all fans of the general style.

Thanx Jimmy, I like Crust/Anarcho/Hardcore stuff but not the mix with death/black/sludge that seems popular nowadays.

I play myself in a Crustpunk/Thrash metal band.. Our demo is heavily influenced by bands like Crucifix, Heresy, Sacrilege and Anti Cimex..Newer material tends to go more towards the Blackened Crust/Swedeath worship direction hahaha, hopefully we'll have a full lenght finished by the end of the year.. anyhow feel free to check it out

Was hoping for more Heresy influence in the tempo but the demo/leftover tracks from the session where you recorded the stuff for the split with Ramlord rule! Any band that covers Black Uniforms and Razor is ok in my book, can't say I cared much for the song that you guys used for the split, though I'm not much a fan of 'entombedcore' or whatever that stuff is being called these days so that's not too surprising haha.

Not a recent band (they're from the early 90s), but you might wanna check out '' Hylkiö ''. Very much rooted in the classic finnish Hardcore/Dbeat style.

Can someone here recommend me a band similar to The Casualties, even to the vocals? In fact, I want more bands using that kind of psuedo-harsh vocals rather than the typical screaming. I've been getting a kick out of the band. Not to mention the shout out they had for my region, South East Asia. \m/

I'm looking for stompy tribal punk that is heavy on the toms. This is something I've always associated with mid 80s anarcho / squat / crust punk, but most crust these days is too grindy for me.

I heard the Bad Breeding track below on the radio last night, and it's exactly the kind of thing I'm after.

Bad Breeding "Burn This Flag"
https://www.soundcloud.com/hate-hate-ha ... his-flag-1

Pissed Jeans "Bathroom Laughter"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdgxsyWfAT4

Therapy? "Animal Bones"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wk6BKyTJrx4

Killing Joke "The Wait"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvnJ2-owQXw

Jesus Fix "Forever"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFBy_ANt81w

Cay "Princes and Princesses"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZugHm_aUYs

Amebix "Slave"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDvx5w3XJJ0

Amebix "Winter"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnCNyVZ22F8

I'm not really looking for Amebix clones as I've explored that area. And the whole Neurosis thing is too ponderous for what I'm after here.

What you got, people?

Check out Vomitus. 90's crust/metal that I've always associated with a 'tribal' sound. They only had a demo, 7", and unreleased LP.

Cheers, that's pretty cool, but a bit too extreme for what I'm specifically searching for here. I'll certainly investigate them further though, thanks.

About a month ago I got really into early bad religion, can anyone recommend me something similar to albums like Suffer/Against the Grain, catchy punk rock with great guitar and lots of great lyrics?

Might be a little different from what you're thinking of, but I have to recommend Husker Du, especially seeing as they're one of my all-time favorite bands. Regardless of all the shitty alt-rock and pop-punk bands they've influenced, these guys were absolute masters at what they did.

Also check out some of the bands - early Dinosaur Jr, Squirrel Bait, Superchunk - that immediately followed in the Huskers' wake. They each created their own near-perfect blend of hardcore and classic rock influences.

Never much cared for Bad Religion but catchy punk rock in that more melodic style with great guitars and vocals instantly brings this Propaghandi album to mind

Speaking purely in terms of their singer, it's hard to come up with many recommendations since he has a pretty distinct voice, but here are a few bands that have comparable vocals. Some of them might be too far into screaming, but I'm not sure how much is too much, so I am just trying to offer a wide selection here:

Rudimentary Peni:

Nick Blinko has a few different vocal styles ranging from raspy shouting to lispy, deathrock laryngealisation and everything in between. Generally speaking, they are pretty much the best thing since sliced bread, so you ought to be listening to them anyway!

Bloody Mess & the Skabs. This band's vocals consist almost entirely of snotty shouted vocals, but Mr. Mess has a comparable voice just in terms of how ravaged and scratchy it sounds at times.

Gai. There's loads of Japanese Punk bands that feature Gai's variety of cracking, drunken/insane high-register vocals. It's definitely worth looking into 80's Japanese Punk if you haven't already.

Akutt Innleggelse. There's nothing about this band that wasn't rough and sloppy, and the vocals were no exception. That's part of what made them so great!

Continuing on from Jimmy Calhoun's recommendations, here's some other bands you might like if you enjoy those:

Leatherface. The vocals don't fit at all into the squeaky clean and nasally modern Pop-Punk vocals category, but they lyrics are heartfelt, and the music is melodic as all get out.

Squirtgun. Pure 90's Pop-Punk, and they ought to be right up your alley if you like bands like Screeching Weasel or The Queers at all.

Funeral Oration [NLD]. I only heard this band for the first time within the last year or two, but I loved them instantly. "Communion" is not like their 90's albums, though, which may be even more up your alley. On Communion, they are almost like melodic hardcore with touches of post-punk influence. Admittedly, they're not really anything like BR, but worth checking out if you like melodic punk and HC anyway.

Being swamped in a sea of "region rock" music is one of the greatest things about living in the southern US. There's so much urgent, hyper-melodic punk music coming out of this part of the country that it makes living here worthwhile just to be close to it all.

One of my favorite bands of the last few years has been Dark Rides from Chattanooga:

Their s/t EP came into my life at a point when I was severely depressed and suicidal. As corny as it sounds, their music (along with the music of other bands associated with DR) really helped me through that bleak period. Uplifting as shit. Their music was very emotionally triggering in a time when I really needed to experience that healing catharsis. DR and co. have become sort of an obsession as a result.

Some related/regional bands I've probably posted numerous times already (sorry):
Spoiler: show
Forced Vengeance Very urgent, melodic punk performed with lots of feeling.
Savage Weekend They were basically the same band as FV, though their playing was a bit more more refined.
Future Virgins. Dirty, garage-tinged melodic punk with lots of fun energy and sentimental feelings.
ADD/C. Even dirtier!
Rice Harvester. Sensitive kids (ca. 1997) making super-mushy and melodic punk is always good!

FWIW, I really don't like BR, and likening them to Husker Du and a lot of these other bands seems almost like an insult, but I realize not every shares my distaste for them, so that's just my subjective opinion.

I also realize few of these bands are even good matches to Bad Religion, but it's hard not to get carried away sometimes. :)

Looking for noisy as hell punk with manly, harsh vocals. My favorites are Doom and Dystopia. I am aware of Nailbomb, Infest, Nails (which are the noisiest punk bands I can think of). I love nails, but their albums are way too short. I like good music that I can actually take a while to sit down and enjoy. The dystopia vocalists are especially incredible.

Thanks. Napalm Raid's vocals were okay, that minute long intro was bad though, and the stuff that came after it wasn't to my liking. The band's style isn't really what I'm looking for. I did not care for the black metal style riffs of Bhopal. Black breath is not at all what I want. They sound like death metal. I am a big fan of actual noise music and power electronics and I was hoping for a band that could deliver that kind of cacophonous noise like nails. I'm gonna check out the grindcore thread.

Try Man is the Bastard. Some of their releases have straight up power electronics songs, and overall their weird brand of hardcore is pretty noisy.

Oh, and "melodic punk"-wise I have to mention J Church. Totally fantastic band that I've just recently discovered.

Looking for hardcore with 80s thrash influence, but not to the point where it turns into crossover. I'm talking about the newer hardcore bands that seem to be getting wildly popular around my area like Suburban Scum, Rude Awakening, Incendiary, Bent Life, and Backtrack. Preferably closer in sound to Suburban Scum and less like Backtrack.

There's always the old reliable "Cleveland scene" bands like Ringworm and Integrity - imagine an amalgam of old school D-beat, early(-ish) Slayer, and 90's beatdown hardcore, generally with a thick, beefy production style. Hard to imagine any fan of dark, angry, heavy music not liking those two.

That's similar to what I'm looking for. Ringworm's latest is definitely in my top 5 this year. Think that album except more punk influence and rawer.

Hey, I'm looking for recommendations. I'd like to know if you're aware of any other bands that sound similar to KLICHE (and old Danish band that I quite like).

Preferably bands that sound similar to KLICHE's first album (the link below leads to a youtube playlist of their first album):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IOzrLp ... qKWUSENDig

The first track is basically just like an intro.

How would you classify this band? I find it hard to pinpoint exactly what genre they play, as they seem to draw influence from many different styles, but I always considered them some kind of "artpunk" band. Perhaps I'm wrong. Your thoughts? I apologize if they don't belong in this thread.

Sorry if I'm a bit late with this, but Dark Rides sound quite promising to me. I can hear what you mean RE: the uplifting, encouraging aspect of their music.

Although this is maybe a little out of the blue, anyone looking for a great newer hardcore record should pick up Dodsdomd's (damn umlauts) 'Seven Deadly Sins' EP, which I did for a couple bucks on Discogs. If nothing else, they're certainly carrying on the torch of classic Swedish D-beat.

Mhm. Both their 7" and the LP come with download codes. If you want, I can send you the downloaded files. I'm sure they wouldn't mind, and I of course encourage you to order if you enjoy them, but there's obviously no pressure. :]

Let me know and I will send you a PM.

Also, I've heard about J Church for a long time, but I never got around to listening. Sounds good! Thanks for sharing.

I am looking for more Swedish crust in the vein of Asocial, Anti-Cimex, Uncurbed, etc. Don't necessarily need to be from Sweden per se but of a similar style/tone, etc.
