One band I'm not sure people are really aware of as far as hardcore punk goes is Scream, they had Dave Grohl (ugh, I know) on drums at one point, however their early material shreds ass. Worth a look for sure.

Been listening to Los Angeles by X lately and I’m looking for some cool punk, hardcore or even crust with heavy Rock’n’Roll influences in the guitar playing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kwQHVOTRVY
Only a bit uglier than this.

I don’t really want any of that Rockabilly revival stuff (unless you know a really good band), not a big fan of that style/gimmick. Just something that’s wild, fun and lofi of course:

Everyone here needs to check out NOMADS:

https://nomadspunk.bandcamp.com/

L.A. based anarcho-Motörcrust that is totally unhinged, violent, and ugly! Can't stop listening to their shit, it's killer!

Always stayed away from this band thinking it was some pop punk or emo-plagued metalcore garabage because of the name. Thank you for opening my eyes haha!

Overcast, Ascension, Enewetak, Fall Silent and Mine from the glory days (mid 90's)
Sarkasm from Canada, their second demo Inner Flame is one hell of a tape from the early days. (1992)
And finally a newer band called Stab You In The Head https://stabyouinthehead.bandcamp.com/track/smashing-machine

TS, check out Strongarm, The Blamed, Unashamed, and The Crucified. On the lighter side, I quite like AFI.

I love the first 5 AFI albums. They're so god damn catchy.

Speaking of Nasum, is anyone else doing grindcore with certain 'melodic undertones' ?

Hey so I’m looking for like one or two soft sounding hardcore punk bands. It doesn’t necessarily have to be considered hardcore punk, but I’m looking for something relatively fast and catchy (with like cool mean sounding riffs) but with a goofy sound. Been listening to this album a lot lately, and I’m looking for vibes similar to the 3 first songs.

Vinyl quality is a plus. I like the light buzzsaw tone and how the instruments aren’t too loud.

Also in the same vein, looking for really catchy classic stuff like “Big City Baby”. But with this same sound. Recommend away.

Not sure if you know them since they're pretty big in the punk scene, but The Descendents are a good call since they were one of the first bands to bring this goofy and pop side to punk, probably being one of the most influential bands to pop punk and melodic hardcore.

Great rec, refreshing with a few standout moments, too bad they called it quits though.

Also can anyone explain what exactly is crust punk, like I know about Amebix, Doom and Wolfbrigade but what makes them crust and not hardcore or whatever.

Haha no, just bought/traded a lot of vinyls and tapes over the years and i love stuff like this, not really a metalhead.
Punk for life! :-D
It's my pleasure. Most of the older bands are often overlooked these days, and i think that is a real shame.

NbleSavage wrote:

These:
Spoiler: show
Koszmar - Nuklearna Supremacja (2015) https://koszmar.bandcamp.com/album/nuklearna-supremacja
Furious Polish d-beat hardcore from Canada!

Abuse - Manifest 1994-2004 The Official And Complete 55 track Discography Of Abuse (2001) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPp9nJNb-J8
More Swedish Käng, good stuff! Nice to have all EP's, splits etc. in one place too.

Extinction of Mankind & Disgust - Power Corrupts (2010) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1DYPZ_0qLE
Heavy stuff from Extinction. Disgust is maybe one of the better bands out there. Thrashy & noisy fast crust! Japanese.

Framtid - Deafeat of Civilization (2013) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nOoyeulzY0
Another Japanese band.

Human Error & Psykoanalyysi - Split (2014) Human Error / Psykoanalyysi
Crust from Hungary and fast pissed off Finnish hardcore.

Massgrave - Self Titled (2011) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIck3uLdfOI&list=PLE3CAE37182863F7A
Massgrave - The Absurdity of Humanity (2016) https://massgravecrust.bandcamp.com/album/the-absurdity-of-humanity
These two are real good! From Canada.

Muerte Total - Self Titled (2015) http://muertetotal.bandcamp.com
Awesome name. Muerte Total! Reminds me of Koszmar. One man band i think from Chile.

Mutilated Veterans - Necro Crust Warhead (2014) https://mutilatedveterans.bandcamp.com/album/necro-crust-warhead-12ep
Spanish crust with Dopi from Machetazo.

Noia - Necessary Extinction (2010) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjIcWjX3lBw&list=PL0334119A91F13DF0
Black/thrash in d-beat, who can say no to that? I think they are Italian.

Skunk - Any release https://skunkcrust.bandcamp.com/
Side project of Dan from Archagathus, Like Disrupt but with mincecore vocals!

Sotatila - 2005-2011 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMtX6UxSEDM
Could not find a link, so the Eepee EP will do, It's the first songs on that discography cd. Pissed off Finnish hardcore with members from Finland, Austria and Chile i think.

And This Japanese ultracore Die You Bastard! from 2014

I put it in a spoiler, so it won't take up the entire page. :-D
Play loud!

Mincecore? I've heard that term a couple of times still no idea what that means. Utracore wtf is that?

As for favorite release I really dug Ancst - Moloch which I found a few days ago. YAITW's latest is good, all of Tragedy's (what happened to them?) stuff kills. Also really like Trap Them's recent album.

Mincecore = Grindcore, to be more exact all bands that sound like Agathocles
Ultracore = Hyperspeed hardcore, you will find lots of Ultracore in Japan and Germany. Fastcore is another name.

Also forgot about Active Minds before, DIY veterans since 1986! Still releasing their own records.
https://activeminds1.bandcamp.com/track/a-downturn-in-the-housing-market
https://activeminds1.bandcamp.com/album/bury-the-past-build-the-future
Don't be fooled by the A side on the last EP, the B side is furious hardcore in the vein of the old ones, Mob 47, SM-70, Lärm etc.
Faaaaaaast!
Active Minds do sound different on every release, but it's always punk in one form or another.

Fuckin' hell, grindcore sub-sub-genres are crazy specific. Deathgrind, goregrind, pornogrind, cybergrind, mathgrind/jazzgrind/techgrind, crustcore/crustgrind, thrashcore (wtf is this?) now ultragrind/fastcore and mincecore. Was checking out some OEF footage (retarded but extremely fun [at least by the looks of it] grind festival) and I discovered yet another questionable sub-sub-genre; scatgrind. Wtf man just wtf?

Also check out The Banner, they got me into the hardcore and its extreme variants:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hjl7czZPA3U

Still the one of the best songs I've heard...all genres included.
