Bands similar to Manilla Road, Brocas Helm, Warlord, Virgin Steele, Dark Quarterer, Tyrant, Savage Grace, Cutty Sark ect. from the 80's. I'm not interested in hearing any modern bands paying tribute to this era of heavy metal. Thanks in advance :)

don't know if you already heard of them, but Taliön and Tröjan are definetely not of those bands many people know (ok, maybe here on MA they are...). They both were not underrated (at least in review terms) but never got the status they clearly should have deserved.

Tröjan is fat paced and extremely catchy speed metal with strong classic heavy metal influences:

the associated band (ident. members if I'm right...) Taliön is more on the power/heavy metal side and also damn good:

edit: oh - speaking of obscure bands you should also try out Lords Of The Crimson Alliance. Their vocalist is rather strange and odd when hearing him the first time but at least to me his voice really grows and just fits after "accepting"

Underrated... obscure... Manilla Road?

Anyway, I think you'll find bands are rarely both of those things. Something may be obscure, but if it's good, the odds are the people who have heard of it (DRD, FSM, gutterscream) know it's good.

Going to rec you Grim Reaper's "Fear No Evil" because its overall rating is 75 but I think it should be more like 85. Everyone loves late-coming NWOBHM with rad riffs, catchy choruses, rad vocals, and a bad attitude!

For typical 80's heavy/speed/power metal, check Pokolgép and Ossian out.

Vicious Rumors.

Soldiers of the Night, Digital Dictator, and Welcome to the Ball all absolutely slay.

Salem's Wych was brought up in another thread and they're pretty cool:

Legend from the US hands down.

They were this progressive/epic heavy metal band who only released one album named "From the Fjords" in 1979. (not exactly the 80's but nonetheless this was still years ahead of their time.)

Here's a couple samples:
Self-titled
The Golden Bell
The Iron Horse
