i love grindcore but i'm trying to find some grind you can headbang to, like sludge at grind speeds. i don't know if that makes much sense if if any of you know anything like this, i'd love to hear it.

You can't bang your head to Grind stuff?!

I don't really know what you mean, to be honest.

i guess like, a lot of grind i have (anal cunt, last days of humanity, agoraphobic nosebleed being my favorites) are awesome but it really is a lot of white noise guitar and fast as possible drumbeats. pig destroyer, for instance, has melodies and sounds like of like sludge metal played at grindcore speeds.

basically what i am trying to find is grindcore with melodies (and maybe some slower parts? not powerviolence though, not looking for any of that)

AxCx is more Noisecore than anything, which explains something.

Agathocles might be a good option: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6J7qi0GzRW8

It's mostly mid-paced and you can make out the riffs while they still remain distorted and fuzzy...

They are one of my favorite Grind bands, but there's just so much stuff in their catalog, and a lot of it seems to be filler/half-assed/old live recordings.

BUt, when they are on, they are fucking amazing... At their worst they are simply mediocre (or just uninventive, though that's understandable with the absurd number of splits they've been on).

PS: Allow me to take this opportunity to "hate on" the fact that ANb isn't included in the archives!

Maybe Goatsblood is what you're looking for. It might be too much sludgey parts and grindy parts rather than actualy "sludge grind" if you will.

Goatsblood - Drull

You need to get the Memento Mori album, by Withered. Fucking headbanging riff fest, not to mention just a great album in general.

I'm surprised Carcass hasn't been mentioned. Also some Death grind stuff like Brutal Truth maybe? and what about newer Nasum...all of that is very headbang-able to me

Seven_Whispers, I don't really think of Carcass (talking about their early Grindcore material) as "Sludge at grind Speeds". More like Pure, unadulterated GRINDCORE! :)

Actually, they are probably one of the biggest influences on a lot of Grind bands today like Exhumed (who are anything but "Sludgey").

How do you mean?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and recommend some Noxagt; they combine elements of Sludge and Grind into their sound, which is totally instrumental. Great stuff, and nowhere else will you hear a viola played quite so brutally.

Most people call doom metal a slowed version of death metal.
