I'm already aware of obviously similar recs like The Axis of Perdition. Abruptum I've heard are similar as well, but I've never been a fan of them. I'd definitely prefer songs/bands that are more on the black metal side of things, and I'd also like to avoid anything that sounds much more raw than the song I've linked. Aside from that - the creepier and more unsettling the better, thanks! I'm also happy to check out anything you think conveys a similar mood or atmosphere, even if it isn't completely similar to Gnaw Their Tongues in sound.

Bumping this in the hopes someone has some idea. I need more creepiness in my life.

Anyone knows of any good female solo atmospheric BM projects?

Preferably that incorporates clean vocals in addition to the screams/shrieks.

Thanks in advance!

I'm really curious myself. I don't know if I've ever heard of such a project.

That Temple of Baal track was pretty sick. Definitely makes me want to hear more.

Yeah, I decided to ask here after listening to this track from a new one woman BM project called Myrkur:

http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/33033 ... pre-order/

Her first EP isn't out yet, but the track they have there was interesting, would like to hear the full thing.

Melodic Black Metal recs please I already know and love Dissection, Windir, Sacramentum, Vinterland, Dawn, Kvist, and Rotting Christ particularly I would like to hear Melodic Black Metal with a huge Yngwie Malmsteen influence I've always noticed his influence on Melodic Black Metal.

early rotting christ sound very similar to a lot of other greek bands from around the same time, so definitely check out varathron(first album rules) and thou art lord and probably naer mataron

Fantastic band. I enjoy both their old, raw style and their current sound, but since you enjoyed that one I definitely recommend the demo it comes from and their debut Servants of the Beast (their sophomore is probably their least impressive to me though, very transitional). I haven't tracked down their split with Eternal Majesty but I'm hoping it is cut from a similiar cloth to the demo, particularly since Sick6Six just posted some stuff from Eternal Majesty that was also killer.

Naer Mataron is good stuff - I just bought a 2CD comp of their first two albums. Kind of took me aback to find out that the frontman is a Golden Dawn MP, but I guess that's not unexpected in this genre.

I've also been recently YouTube-ing some of those early-90's Greek bands - Zemial's 'Sleeping Under Tartarus' EP is the first release that comes to mind - but unfortunately the majority of that stuff seems to be OOP and quite expensive if available at all. The Greek scene of that time had a interesting occult feel, with slower tempos and perhaps a more directly Hellhammer-influenced riffing style, that sets it apart from the second-wave Norwegian bands.

SOLAR DEITY
Pure Satanic Black Metal from India

The band has released 3 EPs and 1 Single with every release focusing on a certain
sub-genre of Black Metal ranging from Traditional, Atmospheric and DSBM.

Traditional / Satanic Black Metal.
(Much like Sargeist, Marduk, Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult)
An Intense adrenaline of Chaos and Hypnotic Ritual.

Atmospheric Black Metal (Much like Burzum, Drudkh)

Not trying to spam around here. Just suggesting a great band from India.

I saw this band on the archives and I'm unable to actually locate any of their music anywhere. I don't know if it's a big joke or something that I'm not in on, but if it isn't, I'm very interested in hearing it. Even though the reviews are negative, the fact that there are so many of them, for a band I've never heard of, makes me extremely curious.

So I've been listening to a lot of Christicide lately and I absolutely love their hypnotic repetitive riffing. I can't even describe what I like so much about their sound, but I want more of it. Reminds me of Inquisition, except a lot less blunt and simple sounding. It's like if Inquisition were French and had two guitarists with a really unique sense of melody. The sound is so thick and the riffs sound so dense, it's easy to get lost in them. Here's an example (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6zhzkeaXAY). Might be a stretch, but does anyone have any recommendations of bands that capture a similar sort of sound?

I demand you listen to the new Old Wainds album if you have not already! Probably my favorite album of 2014 and honestly deserves a better review than the one I gave it. After 10 listens in a row I still listen to it at least once a week. Also the last 2 Draconis Infernum albums for the sheer speed.

I'd like some Peste Noire type bands that combine that sort of melodic BM with medieval instrumentation/influences, if possible.

It definitely exists, I have the Rainfall/Umbra split on my iPod from some years ago when I was obsessed with downloading every obscure droney sub-Burzum clone I could find. Yes, it's technically very poor, but it has a certain naïve charm about it.

In terms of Black Metal similar to Inquisition you may like Siculicidium.

Hello everyone,

Im looking for some really dark atmosoheric / gothic black metal. I undestand that that sounds very vague, but I'd like to expand my gothic black metal collection. I do like Cradle of Filth, Moonspell, Graveworm, Hecate Enthroned, I am looking for black metal bands with sound similar to theirs, with dark pianos and gothic atmosphere. I find it hard to find bands with this sort of description as I get recommended to either black metal or gothic metal on Allmusi or Last.fm

Thanks in advance

Tried making a list from the top of my head. It didn't work as late as it is now. Tried googleing for some help, decided to post the link instead:

http://rateyourmusic.com/list/drowned_s ... k_metal/1/

I'm sure you can find something nice there, if not I recommend Turdus Merula and all of her other projects. :)

Can anyone rec me some raw demo recordings (but not necessarily) of evocative, chilling, and down-right maniacal/frenzied stuff like these two Peste Noire songs?

Untitled: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sy7AVTSBgK0
666 Millions D'Esclaves Et De Déchets: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZnQDDgOQPE

Also like this Ephemer song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdit6KrpIKA

I just want to hear raw magic. That's not very specific I guess but that's the joy of leaving things open-ended. I want to hear arcane storms of hate, war, death, and magic.

Edit: There's also some clean choir singing in that untitled PN song and in that Ephemer song. Love shit like that, so anything similar would be fantastic! Thanks in advance!

Try Meza Virs from Singapore. It's in that Graveworm/ Hecate Enthroned niche.

You've also got Illnath, whose earlier albums are sporadically worthwhile although their later recordings seem a bit limp. There was a similiar request to this a couple of pages back and I rec'd Penumbra, for your specific question their debut is probably the one to go for although even then it's more in the gothic category, which their later records went for wholesale.

Abreaccion's debut is amazing, at last Argentina has a good band contributing to the legacy of black metal. I'm already pumped for a new release! check the full thing here: http://abreaccionblackdoom.bandcamp.com/

Anyone know why the hell Moonblood is labeled "epic black metal"? I was listening to Blut und Krieg yesterday and figured I'd look them up on here for the hell of it (goddamn they have alot of demos and splits). Never seen a band on here before referred to as "epic", if anything, why not label Bathory epic for Blood Fire Death alone?

I wondered that too. Not that Moonblood wasn't an "epic" band in their own right and in terms of their influence, just not in the musical sense people might anticipate looking at that label. Maybe an oversight.

You might like the Astral demos, by the guy behind Gnaw Their Tongues, its more pure black metal, reminds me of early Emperor. I used to have the demo up on youtube but it looks like I took it down...

Lately I've been really enjoying albums like Burzum's "Filosofem", Darkthrone's "Panzerfaust", Satyricon's "Dark Medieval Times" and Ulver's "Nattens Madrigal". Basically what I'm looking for is cold, atmospheric BM (preferably scandinavian) with tremolo picking and possibly acoustic guitars. Any recs?

I'm thinking Enslaved's first album in particular. Others that come to mind would be Arcturus - Aspera Hiems Symfonia, Borknagar's first one, or Vinterland - Welcome My Last Chapter. That's all that comes to mind right now. If I think of more I'll respond.

Hello all, I'm looking for raw black metal in the vein of Moonblood's rehearsal tapes and demos or Graveland's "Celtic Winter" demo.

I've also been listening to a LOT of Vlad Tepes and other LLN bands so I'm looking for stuff like that.

Please do not mention the same old bands, Ildjarn, Belketre, Mutiilation, Black Funeral and so on, I already know fairly well those bands and I'm looking for something new.

Thanks in advance.

Veles- Might of the Pagan Belief and the Behemoth demo's sound a lot like that early Graveland.
