Its not exactly metal, but im looking for a certain type of music with acoustic string and maybe wind instruments, preferably without vocals. If you have heard the bards song by Blind Guardian you know what im talking about. I want it to evoke a medieval sound

THIS is the sound i am needing

Here is another example of what i am looking for
Starting at around 3:11

If you're looking for a minstrel sound, listen to In Gowan Ring. That being said, there are vocals.

By the way, what's your favourite album by them?

If anyone says SIG:AR:TYR I'll completely sperg out...

Anyway, I find "La Tierra Blanca" by Argentum from the SEC comp to be quite epic... though it's really more melencholy-ish-ly uplifting than epic... guess I'm not very good at this. We-ell, the opener of Countess's mightly "Shining Swords of Hate" album is accoustic, and totally epic! Gotta love redemption in the same post. :)

Haha, I find it very hard to not like all of them because they all are brilliantly composed and executed. My favourite is "John Barleycorn Must Die!" - solely because it was my first GB album.

You might really like Forefather. They sing in the olde english bard fashion. (im not from britain so if my description sounds like ass than forgive me.)
They have about one or 2 songs in just about every album featuring only acoustics and clean vocals.
Also they describe themselves as anglo-saxon metal apparently and dislike being called black metal.
Good stuff.
