I haven't yet encountered any bands that have that particular sound, anything to suggest?

Heh they're pretty close but not quite. I guess what both bands have most in common is that neither seem to get the recognition they deserve. =(

hmm, though they lack the slight 70s influence sometimes found with Slough Feg, you can try the epic metal of Isen Torr:

Argus and Valkyrie should work, although there is a lot of doom in the latter.

SOLSTICE dammit! that's what crossed my mind at the first point; "fuck, this reminds me of Slough Feg", but harder and it is marked as "Epic Doom Metal", but to me it is not much doom...

I love The Lord Weird Slough Feg, especially the older stuff. For some reason, 3 Inches Of Blood really reminds me of them, with different vocals....
