Anybody know of any bands (or hell, even specific songs) that utilize this? The only two I know of are Death's cover of "Painkiller" and Venom's "Leviathan". Obviously, the former is more of a harsher falsetto, and Cronos' growl isn't generally that much of a growl.

Thanks in advance.

After screaming and growling my vocal cords out for several years i'd say what you look for cannot exist, it's simply not achievable.

Schuldiner's vocal cords were down the shitter at the time of TSoP, and he definitely managed it. I don't think he would've used computer effects to that extent, either.

I wouldn't call those growls, either.

I didn't hear anything like that.

Growling and vibrato doesn't really sound good. It's not particularly difficult to do, it just doesn't... work.

Symphony X's "Paradise Lost" might be what you're looking for, if you don't mind some power metal. At least it's not nearly as faggy as a lot of power metal is.

I suppose it depends on just how faggy it is, haha. In "gay power metal vocals," I didn't mind the one guy on Control Denied's one album (though, since the page on it says that Chuck did some backing vocals, I'm not sure exactly how much of it is the power metal guy), but shit like Dragonforce's vocals is a complete turn-off.

That symphony x album is nowhere near as faggy as dragonforce. It's the only power metal album I like. For power metal I guess you could say it's fairly dark and heavy, they tune down a step, he's doing lots of yelling and stuff. And typical of power metal, the guitar playing is awesome.

And now I'm worried.
