i've been going to this site for extensive info on metal for a while, so i figured i might as well join as a member.

anyway, i'm looking for new bands (new to me anyways).
i'm trying to find really dirty, grimey, filthy metal kinda in the vein of autopsy, repulsion, abscess, hellhammer, mortician... shit like that.

i was curious about deceased, but i'm not sure which albums to check out. anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated. also, ANY kind of metal suggestions are welcome... as long as their extremely filthy in the production.

Well, a few bands come to mind. Impetigo, early Carcass, Pungent Stench, Order From Chaos, Infester, General Surgery, Funebrarum, Gutted and Immortalis should provide you with something to enjoy.

Get some Celtic Frost, Mercyful Fate, Blasphemy, Bulldozer, Sarcofago into you.
Nothing beats the good, old shit which you seem to be into.

Actually, not really. General Surgery is very much a straight death/goregrind band in the vein of early Carcass but with more of a Swedeath spin. TDEBN on the other hand is like ultra-groovy goregrind, stripped down to the barest bones; dumb as shit but a truckload of fun.

I'd suggest alot of the older Swedish/Finnish scene. I mean, sure, I always recommend them, but I think you'd like it. (check the Swedish death metal thread).

They were too cheap to give the songs names, just like they were too cheap to make a proper album cover or a shirt that didn't fall apart a few days after I bought it... :grumble:

Mine has held up pretty good, I got just the plain band one with the logo around the time of Invention:Destruction.

Did you get that white 'Brutal' one? It just looks like it will fall apart in the very near future.

i'd much rather listen to carcass than general surgery.
they only released an EP's worth of material that i truly dig.
whereas carcass is art.

Wait a minute...you think the stuff that came afterwards is gayer than "Club Mondo Bizarre"? Well, that doesn't compute for me..."CLub Mondo" is definitely the furthest from their purpose Pungent Stench ever got, and it's no wonder they broke up after that point. THe subsequent albums are a little more energetic and I like them better, as they have more of a death metal aesthetic, while still maintaining a heavy rocking groove. Granted, though, the last two are sure far cleaner than "Been Caught Buttering" in sound. I like "Club Mondo" a bit, too, but in general I have to concede that it is a bit of a boring record.

Anyway, check the recommendation forum...it's meant for topics such as yours.

thank you for recommending the recommendation forum.
my appologies to my noob-ness.

and i agree that the second half of club mondo is a little boring, but its still an enjoyable record. my personal favorite Stench records are the first two and the split w/ D.O. :D
