I'd like to listen to these bands some more because I really like their styles, but I'm not sure which albums to get. What are the essentials/best works of the above bands?

PS: Don't tell me to just look up reviews or MA ratings, those are hardly helpful.

Overkill- everything up to Horrorscope.

Viovod- everything up to Nothingface

Kreator- Extreme Aggressions

Vader- everything up to De Profundis

Warbringer- don't bother

For Kreator, I definitely recommend their first 4 albums. Their most brutal era is definitely in '86, when they released "Pleasure to Kill." Better Warbringer is all in their latest album IMO ("Waking into Nightmares), so also give that a try.

And you might want to browse through the Thrash Metal Help Thread.

For Kreator you definitely should get Terrible Certainty.

Coma of Souls as well, for Kreator. Most Vader ranges from good to decent.

from Vader get Litany, that's my favorite album from them. That's their most aggressive album that mixes brutality and melody with fast drumming and even faster blastbeats. Really awesome.

It's probably his idea of metal. That Black Sabbath and Trouble stuff doesn't have enough gangsta giving the finger.

This. A great new album from a longstanding band. Really good stuff all-around.

From what I heard this was a good album. Also, check out Warbringer's Waking Into Nightmares. Great thrash, with great production and it was produced by Gary Holt of Exodus.

The first five Kreator records are amazing, but for some of the newer material, check out Violent Revolution. Great album!

I'm going to take a controversial tack, and say get XXV by Vader. Extremely awesome re-recordings of all their classics, and it's two discs so their whole career pre-The Art Of War is represented. It's like Saxon's Heavy Metal Thunder compilation but for deathrash.

Apart from that, those Polish kids have done a whole lot of quality stuff across their career but also a fair bit of boring stuff, just don't feel you have to limit yourself to the early albums for the good'uns.
