ive been listening to a lot of Hypomanie, they are pretty good. Canis Dirus and inferi are worth a try. But I second literally every band that UnderArozenMoon said, especially Veil. I also second Hydra, their album is free for download.

You must. It's riff heavy while still retaining the depressive sound. Oh, and did I mention the vocalist is female?

Blutklinge is really awesome Depr. BM to me...
also Drapsnatt are great (though they might be too harsh for your research when thinking of Niflheim/Gris)

Hypothermia is awesome, glad you mentioned them, but i meant Hypomanie

(IDK the vocalist of Hydra was female. Thats awesome, she's sick)

Drapsnatt is awesome, but i think they arent really depressive.

Not to sound rude or anything but depressive suicidal black metal is quite a bit different than most other black metal

So's black/death metal, but the threads are there for a purpose. I actually don't think DSBM IS different from most black metal; its worse, perhaps, but not different.

Woods of Infinity is a top notch black metal band with a unique use of strange, unsettling samples that keeps me on the edge of my seat. I'd also highly recommend Isolation to anybody who love thick layers of audio despair as much as I do. Really dreary stuff, yet strangely solemn and tranquil in its own way, with plenty of heartfelt melodies hidden under the cacophony. Nocturnal Depression is pretty much the epitome of minimalistic, gloomy music that evokes thoughts of isolation and suicide. Their music is as hopeless sounding as it is beautiful. Zuriaake is a strange, unique band that plays sad, lonely and ultra-raw black metal (perhaps similar to Xasthur at first glance) mixed with elements of Chinese classical music. Not something at the top of my playlists, but definitely interesting and worthwhile stuff.

All Im trying to point out is that for DSBM many people who would recommend on the black metal rec. thread think DSBM sucks and dont know anything about good bands.
That and it has a different sound.
Brutal death metal is different than death metal, and I think DSBM is different from black metal.

I also recommend the Chinese band Be Persecuted, and the Pakistani band Abyssed.
