Hey everyone.

I just checked out Windir's "Todeswalzer", and it's definitely one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.

I like how it sounds dreamy and spacey, especially at the beginning. You have an awesome thick atmosphere. It'd be nice if you'd recommend me more like that. I love how they used raw black metal vocals and mixed them up with clean passages. That'd be a plus as well. As for the lyrics, I prefer viking stuff, but that's not necessary.

Anyway, it doesn't have to sound exactly like Windir, that's just an example. But something like that would be nice.

Thanks.

Check out Sirius' Aeons of Magick. It's like evil Disney black metal, good stuff.

Check out Mysteriarch, their debut album "The Majestic Fall" should sound exactly like what you're requesting. The song "Aeons of Ascendancy" is the epitome of dreamy.

Enjoy the metal

I'd suggest checking out Mischosen's Magic, Miracles and Rhymes demo, and perhaps his full length too. Atmospheric symphonic BM somewhat akin to Summoning, only with a cosmic, spacey feel to it rather than Tolkein.

I would reccomend Mourning Ends - "Kriegrseele".

Also Allvater's Zorn is totally up your alley I think, especially their demos. They will also do thick quiet portions.

The most important I would say is if you can find a copy of their song "Abschied".... that thing is unbelievable.

Speaking of spacey black metal, what was that black metal album with the astronaut on it with the band logo resembling an eagle?

May I suggest A Forest of Stars? It has been a while since I've given them a listen, but I think they might be the kind of thing you're looking for.

You should try listening to Nychts. The track from their split with Wedard is like that.

Darkspace I and III

I'm surprised Darkspace hasn't been mentioned yet, but they have an even more "spacey" atmosphere than Oranssi Pazuzu. I and III sounds like low-fi Celtic Frost worship from outer space. Awesome shit...

Heh, thanks.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Thorns yet. Early Arcturus fits the bill nicely too(they also share album art with Thorns). I'd also suggest Portal from Australia. They always get branded with the tag, "otherworldly" and could be what you're looking for. They're a cool band. :-)

Check out all the other Windir stuff if you haven't already.
Journey to the end and most of the 1184 album!

Other bands not necessarily spacey but in more of that area that you described:
Myrkgrav (viking stuff)
Arcturus (Nor) - The Sham Mirrors
Arcturus (Nor) - Aspera Hiems Symfonia
Sirius - Spectral Transition - Dimension Sirius (Space related but not with clean passages)

This dreamy?

If you don't really mind the whole BBM scene, I would take a look at Animus.

You MUST get Enslaved's Hordanes Land EP if you haven't heard it yet. It's EXACTLY what you want. Thick atmosphere, spacey, dreamy keyboards, ect.

I second that!! Also, check out Nachtmystium's Assassins: Black Meddle Pt. 1 and Nutrition, they have both of their EPs available for free on their myspace.

Enjoy.

I've always found Abigor's Opus IV to have a very spacey sound/atmosphere to it. Particularly the song "Mirages for the Eyes of the Blind". Also happens to be my favourite Abigor song.

This. I can't tell you how awesome this album is without mentioning what could possibly be the most bizarre lyrics I've ever heard in a black metal song. Not to mention the vocals are completely psychotic. I read this line and immediately went nuts.

From the first track "God"

"Wrought iron gateways pleading, under-used ovens awaiting further problems"

Seriously? Under-used ovens? Genius!
