Especially the album Antares by Sybreed... something along those lines. In fact, if it has catchy, angular and heavy riffs with electronic influences that aren't overused and complement the riffing itself... along with SOARING vocals (listen to the song Revive my Wounds for an example).

In fact, everything in the song Revive my Wounds has what I want in this recommendation... the groovey, technical machine like riffs, fast drumming, electronics that complement the guitar parts - during the intro riff the electronics sound like guitar arpeggios themselves, only electronic, instead of guitar. Not to mention the chorus....those vocals soar into space!

This is an almost completely new style to me, point out even the most obvious of bands that fit this description.

Close, I've checked this band out.

This band sucks.

Some resemblance, but I've heard this band before, their first album is good but that can't be said about their latest.

Umm... okay? I didn't get a good impression on hearing this band, they don't seem heavy enough.

Not on the archives, if they aren't metal... I'm not going to bother.

Love this band.

Nothing like Sybreed but a good recommendation anyway.

Love this band, nothing like Sybreed. Okay, a little like Sybreed, but not enough to be a recommendation along those lines.

Any further recommendations... no metalcore please! Unless the band used to be "not metalcore",

indeed In Flames and Soilwork are overall nothing like Sybreed, yet i think there are quite some songs that do have that same Sybreed-like vibe you're looking for :)

Sometimes with Soilwork, yes, especially on mid-era albums (Predator's Portrait and Natural Born Chaos), but not so with In Flames.

Black Comedy is close, somewhat nu-metallish, but ironically that's somewhat what I am looking for... something that is closer to groove metal rather than melodic death metal...

The thing is, Black Comedy is okay, but doesn't seem to have that catchyness and soaring vocals Sybreed has. Edit: Rest of the album is promising. I think Black Comedy is leading the recommendations here.

Synthetic Breed, from Australia is another good one, from the Last.fm site. Sybreed's name is short for Synthetic Breed, so it's fascinating to see a similar band with a similar name from a totally different location.

Threat Signal is another good one, vocals are a bit too Linkin Park like though, but my first experience with them was seeing them live and they kicked ass!

A lot of these are Meshuggah influenced... so, if there is a band out there with Meshuggah influence and melodic parts, that'd make a good recommendation even if they still don't quite reach the caliber of Sybreed.

I am starting to believe that Sybreed nailed a genre that is difficult to even do well and still sound metal... yet Sybreed does that. I'll keep looking at the last.fm bands, some of these are amazingly close to what I am looking for.

Ewigkeit is a now defunct Industrialized band that has some stuff like this.

Are you familiar with "A Dark Halo"? They have a sound similar to that of Sybreed:

Well, except for the "soaring vocals" part, when i read that i was about to suggest Biomechanical because of their vocalist's Halford-like screams, but their music isn't catchy and much more technical and chaotic. Probably not what you're looking for.

Thanks! Quite a bump, but I appreciate this recommendation!

Still enjoying the hell out of Ewigkeit too.

They remind me of Raintime especially their first album Tales from Sadness. The second album is just as good though.

though they more "modern" than "futuristic" you should try MNEMIC's "The Audio Injected Soul". The vocalist is really awesome with some great soaring, melodic passages.
Check this song with a brilliant chorus:

Get Raunchy.
Just 'cause they're not on the archives doesn't mean they're not metal. Sybreed is very similar to them, i've found. It's incredibly catchy and poppy, which will turn a lot of metalheads off of it, but it's still really fun and engaging to listen to.

Miseration is more death metal than anything, get Christian Alvestam's other band, The Few Against Many. It's slightly more melodic and synth-laden.
