I'm not looking for recs. like Cynic, Atheist, or whatever else I already know that Last.Fm tried spitting at me. Surely someone here knows of lesser known bands/more obscure bands similar to Martyr in style and sound. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm sure you've heard of Capharnaum before, but if not, you should look into them. Dan Mongrain played on their sophomore effort.

I've also recommended Anata to a friend who was looking for the same kind of thing and he really dug those guys. They're technical death metal with a sense of melody. I used to really dig this a few years ago when I was all about this style of music.

Thanks for the response. I have heard of Anata, but I cannot say the same for Capharnaum. I shall check them out. Thanks again.

Any other recs. will be welcomed with open arms.

Try these:

Luen-Ta - Ghost Area
Spasme - The Deep Inside

They don't have Martyr's "shouting" vocals of their last album, but they still might be what you're looking for.
