Hi there,

I recently began to listen to Pantheist's O solitude and it was a pleasant surprise.
What I liked the most was the slow parts building to faster, angrier parts.

Are there any funeral doom bands that regularly switch to thrash / full-blown death metal in their songs?

Thank you!

Esoteric often incorporates faster, heavy Death Metal pieces in their songs. The first song of 'The Maniacal Vale', Circle, is a good example of this.

Although perhaps you had better asked this question in the Recommendation Central.

Ok thank you! *looks at their profile* damn those average scores are high.

Sorry about that. If a mod can move my topic it'd be greatly appreciated :)

Ataraxie seems to speed up quite often in some of their song.
Another suggestion is Elysian Blaze. One of the reviews put it best when said it was more like "Black Metal with Funeral Doom influences".

I seem to plug this one everywhere, but Woebegone Obscured might be worth a shot.

Sped up funeral doom = death metal (in theory).

If you're into death/doom, Ophis has some speedy sections on Stream Of Misery.

I was going to suggest Disembowelment myself, but they're not funeral doom, though I suppose its close enough.

The name Nihili Locus comes to mind. Maybe that might work.

Hi!

thanks to everyone!

It's not funeral doom but "heaven and weak" (maudlin of the well) is kinda what I'm looking for... very calm and slow-paced that gets really heavy towards the end.
I know sped up funeral doom is supposed to be death metal. That's why I asked for funeral doom with bits of thrash/death thrown in. :)

I was about to suggest the same band actually. Not half bad at all, either.
