So essentially I'm looking for some form of metal, dark ambient, or electronic music that makes wonderful use of huge sounding synths. Plasma Pool comes to mind, as does Koan and Kraftwerk (albeit not metal in the slightest, they still have that certain sound). The beginning of Pagan Altar's "Judgement of the Dead" is another sample of what I desire. A ritualistic aura in the music is great, though not a prerequisite.

I am NOT looking for shit like Nadja and the ilk. NO POST METAL or DRONE.

Both Ewigkeit's Radio Ixtlan and Conspiritus makes great use of synth and electronics. Sorry if they're nothing like what you're looking for, as I've never heard any of your examples, but it was what sprung to mind.

I could say that some of Tarot's stuff may qualify. None of it brushes off as "ritualistic" to me though.

Dol ammad have majestic synths, but it is not for everybody... only if you have no problem with operatic vocals. I quite like them.

Summoning comes to mind.

And thank you for reminding me how awesome Pagan Altar's debut album is.

Catachthonian, I already know of Summoning. You're welcome, by the way. I recently acquired an official copy of the album and it sounds amazing.

Misainzig, their myspace only had one song and it sounded incredibly fruity.

Sagebear, not even remotely close. Not even remotely good.

Slavonic777, I hate operatic vocals.

By huge synths I take you don't mean huge in a melodically epic and dramatic, but more in a kind of airy, looming sense; like a blanket of melody draped over the song, or am I mistaken?

If you're digging Pagan Alter, check out all the retro-cult stuff like Witchcraft and Blood Ceremony (assuming you haven't already). Otherwise...maybe the first couple Mortiis albums, maybe Vinterriket?

Fine, I wish there were a distro specified in trad doom here. By the way, you might want to try Senmuth's "Planetary Dust" and the early album of Raison d'Etre (circa 1991-1997). They may be not exactly what you're looking for, but still worth checking out.

As strage as it is, I'm seconding Mortiis. Listen to "Blood And Thunder" EP - and if you end up liking it, go for "Fodt Til A Herske", "Keiser Av En Dimensjon Ukjent" and "Anded Som Gjorden Oppror".

Also, Dargaard might fit. And Senmuth's newest album "Akhet Mery Ra" has some massive keyboard sections.

I mean it in a big thick airy kind of way.

Thor Evlor, read the OP next time.

Mortiis is bleh. I already listen to Vond and Cintecele Diavolui btw.

Aquarius, which album by Obitania?

I'm going to listen to those artists in a while, will post results after.

Well, then you may want to check out Evilfeast. They have a pretty cool nocturnal atmosphere often carried by thick layered keys. Pretty good, though it can get boring at times.

Kataxu's "Hunger of Elements". This is an album with both symphonic black metal and ambient songs and the keyboards are huge.

I have CD Pagan Crystal Sphere from Obitania. The only album.

Several years ago, I was browsing through a distro and came upon that album because it had neat coverart. The album sucked! The keys dominated everything, the vocals were lame, riffs were barely audible, the NS ideology wasn't very hateful sounding, and it just bored me.

Didn't care for Le Rue Delasay, reminded me of a third rate soundtrack composer.

Will check out Obitania and Asgar. Might look into Evilfeast, I'm picky about black metal though.

Ewigkeit's first album is basically black metal with electronic elements, if that's more what you'd like.

If we're talking about synths, Vordven's Towards the Frozen Stream comes to my mind. People usually recommend Woodland Passages, but I find that album bland and boring.

Most of these recs are missing the mark, but the effort is appreciated. I'm going to scour the darkwave/electronic/ambient bands on here and see which are worth hearing, since that's really what I've wanted from the beginning.
